Fathom Longboard Skateboard

Freaking awesome board , I couldn’t and I still can’t believe that’s so much fun and so easy to ride it , it’s pretty expensive, really expensive, like almost 400$ for an long board that’s only 33” long and the board by itself it’s only 23 , I don’t know , but I get it like a present for my birthday so I love it , but it by myself for me I’ll probably think twice and still buy it , and I’m an summer rider , like just for fun, it’s great I love it , recommend to everyone who would like to have a fun ride or a fun comuter over the city or at some lake/ocean front ! It’s worth it , guys who designed it know their job , great product!

The board itself looks like exactly what I wanted and I really like the design/setup. However, it arrived with multiple chipped edges and corners, with exposed wood visible right out of the box. Since it was brand new, I expected it to arrive in better condition.

I have about fifteen boards and this one is hands down my favorite board to cruise.

Back in the day I was a pretty hardcore skater. Home made half-pipes at friends houses, drainage ditches, empty pools. As I got older, i'd pick up a board and cruise around then i tried a friends longboard and had so much fun I had to get one of my own. So I picked up this Fathom from Loaded Boards and I am totally stoked I did. The truck configuration is not like anything I've ever rode before. Actually everything about this board is like nothing I've ridden before. Starting off with the low deck height. Its' much closer to the ground than a regular board and provides the board with stability especially as you pick up speed. No speed wobbles! The deck is also nice and wide at 9 inches. The corners of the deck are upturned. Im not sure why. The grip tape is very "grippy". Not sure if that's a word but there is little chance of foot slippage. Just all this makes for a stable and easy ride. But wait, THERES MORE! The wheels are large 85mm Orangatang Caguama 77A with a nice bearing setup. This is more of speed and momentum setup. Get your push on to however fast you want to cruise and it will maintain that momentum for quite a while. Makes for doing nice long carves or S turns. It was pretty easy to get up to a nice speed on a flat street. The trucks on this are Paris 150mm on double drop bracke. This is the first time I've ridden on trucks like this and I like this set up, ALOT. All of the above combined makes for one of the funnest and easiest boards to ride that I have ever ridden. The stability at higher speeds and how easy it is to control is why I would recommend this board. Did I mention how much fun it is?

I've been skateboarding since the beginning-maybe not THE beginning, but since the 70's ok. And this stick is absolutely killer. Most of my riding is in parks, skating bowls. This kind of board is for when I want to just surf the street at speed. The low center of gravity is like no other and makes drop through trucks look archaic. The flex gives you so much feel and you can pump through turns and gain speed with super stability and no wobbles. The wheels are fast and smooth and roll forever. This is a top notch performance board that you usually do not find in a "complete." From the Paris trucks to the bearings and grip to the orangatang wheels with hubs to keep the bearings perfectly aligned- everything is stellar and rips it up. So S T O K E D to have this stick. I am adding a metal "handle" to the front truck for a couple of reasons. 1) When you store the board vertically on a hard surface, the nose and tail are rounded and too slippery for the board to stay put. 2) If I bail and the board rolls onward, I'd rather a handle slam into a wall than the Z-hanger. 3) It's a handle to pick it up from the front! The lowrider has been re-defined with Loaded's approach to engineering and design and I cannot say enough about how well this works. You do have to watch your back foot positioning as a few times when cranking, the rear wheel hit my foot as it was over hanging the mini kick ever so slightly. Once dialed though, no longer an issue. I've been a Loaded fan since their Poke' model. This complete is the absolute bomb.

This board is amazing! As a first time skateboard rider I had my concerns starting out. The board is made of multiple layers of wood that is shaped slightly concave in the middle and tilted upwards at all four corners. I received the fathom longboard with the 85mm caguama 77a wheels. These have a slightly lighter weight, lower profile and better rolling start. As a first time rider I started out practicing getting on and off the board while stationary and eventually moved up to small movements. This was probably a lot easier to learn due to the lower stature of the board. The board is not real large at 23” long and 9.25” wide. The length of the whole board including wheels is 33”. This is the perfect size for me at 5’9” and about 180 pounds. My size 10” shoes fit well on the board and give good stability. The grip tape on the top is very good and keeps my shoes plated firmly. I like that the wheels are exposed away from the board and the edges are tiled up so you know where the end of the board is. The weight is fairly light at 8.4 pounds. It’s easy to carry around. The graphics on the bottom of the board are great. It turns well and accelerates quickly and maintains speed. This is a very good skateboard.
