Bought this on sale and loved it when I used it the one time. however after the first use the rack broke at one of the weld points. I am returning as not fit for purpose but I would have ordered another in the hope it was a 1 off fault if the price wasn't now £20 more than I paid

I have been canning jam for several years now, without ever bothering buying accessories.I have to say that this kit makes perfect sense, and I am using pretty much all accessories.The ones I find more useful are the funnel, the lifter, and the rack, but the tongs and the magnetic tip are genuinely useful too.It is all easy to clean, and the plastic helps to prevent jars from slipping.All considered, very happy with this kit and would order again.

Got this as a gift for my grandma as she loves canning different fruits and vegetables. She said it’s really useful especially the tongs in preventing burns. 5 stars

First time using this, and the wire rack broke ... It's also a bit of a bad design that the handle of the lid gets very hot very quickly. The pan itself is quite thin on the bottom, so only useful for water heating really. The tools are adequate - not the best quality at all. Best idea would be to save up a bit longer and buy something of better quality that is a little more robust .

I use this canner and within the first use the metal cage broke in several places and only held on by one bar and became useless, and on lifting the lid the whole lid shattered in my hand.

I started growing my own produce last year and wanted a way to preserve the sauces I made with tomatoes and chillies.The first thing to note is that this kit doesn’t give you everything you need to start canning. You’ll need your own jars, and your own pot that is the right size for the folding rack. I didn’t have either of these things. I’d been using leftover pasta sauce jars that I’d first sterilised in the biggest pot I had, which wasn’t deep enough to use the folding rack in. Luckily I could still get by, and use other elements from this kit.The canning tongs, jar lifter and magnetic lid lifter are great! I’ve used them a lot and they’ve made the process of preventing burns from boiling water much easier. The jar wrench is one size, so for my larger jars it was fine but for slimmer ones it didn’t work. I also couldn’t use it for slim condiment sauce bottles. The funnel was also great for jars, but I wish the pack came with a smaller option I could have used for pouring sauce into sauce bottles. Had to revert to a measuring jug which was…messy.Overall, I’ve been able to make use of parts of this kits, but that’s without me having the “proper” jars for canning. If I wanted to go that step further, then I’d be set for a while until I eventually get my own smaller funnel etc. So it’s good for starting out!

If you fancy giving preserving a try this is a good starting place. It's not the best quality but it's a very budget price (£19.99 when reviewed) and kitchen utensils are not cheap. You can easily pay that much for one item and with this kit you get seven. Everything is usable and safe but it won't be something you can pass on to your children or grandchildren in the future. If you love "canning" you can buy better quality a bit at a time but if you hate it it's only cost you 20 quid to find out.I can recommend it in accordance with my review.
