That is an interesting description for sure. I took the description to mean your keys were unique for the lock purchased but you have an extra key in case you have to leave your trailer somewhere and needs to be moved. I hope this helped and I didn’t confuse you more. :)

It just means the are not your normal keys, so it’s harder to pick. The “keyed alike” just means it comes with two keys, so one main key and and one spare key.

I don't know much about semi trailers and how big the hitch pun is on those. If they happen to be the same size as they pin used on 5th wheel hitches then this would work fine. It's solid construction and goes on and locks very easy. But, like the old saying goes, locks are for honest people. This is mainly a deterrent for the "casual" thief looking for an easy score. If one of those guys encountered this lock then they would likely move on to and easier target. However, a more determined thief in a remote area that had a grinder and some time to work probably wouldn't have a lot of trouble cutting through the locking mechanism.
