It works!
I bought this when my daughter got lice for the second time. Having done the treatment the “old fashioned way” the first time I was dreading having to spend hours washing and combing again this comb was the answer. I will say that per the previous reviews she did get zapped as well which was not fun. My son also ended up with it and cried about getting zapped also. However, it only happened the first time we used it. On subsequent days there was no zap and both kids became cooperative. I realized the “zap” happens when the comb encounters the nits. So I am keeping it because the amount of time it took was less than an hour even with my daughters long hair and that was me being extra vigilant and going over it several times. I hope to never have to use it again but if I do I am ready!!!

Defective product.
I'm not sure if it really kills anything, because it kept stopping working. We were trying to use this as a follow up after already completing a treatment, so I'm not sure if there was anything left. I think I might have heard it zap once or twice, but I'm not really sure. When I first turned it on, it didn't hum, but when I squeezed the battery cover it would work for a little bit. I tried switching the batteries that came with it for brand name batteries, but that didn't make a difference. It doesn't really shock you, but it does occasionally give a little tingle that my daughter did not like. I absolutely would have returned this, if I had not jumped the gun, and threw the package away.

and it worked great, until the youngest dropped it into the toilet
I have 5 grandchildren that I baby-sit after school.Every 3 months or so the school has another head lice outbreak.I bought a Robi-pen years ago, and it worked great, until the youngest dropped it into the toilet. This 1 was a little cheaper, so I ordered it.The kisd HATE it.I tried it on myself today, to see why. When I comb the kids hair, I usually start about a quarter of an inch in front of the hairline and work my way back thru the scalp. That way I know I'm getting all the root areas. It's not a problem with the Robi-pen, and when the buzzing stops, you know it zapped something. The Octivetech doesn't stop buzzing, so I have no idea if it helped.I do know (now) that if you place the Octivetech on skin, you get a shock. And I know why the kids hate it. I do too.

Stubborn Lice!
we needed such a comb! It works ~but if not careful, it hurt my daughter's head.I still used it though, to be sure, because it does zap lice.

Likely the best lice product on the market
I bought this as a precaution a while back and I am SO glad that I had it on hand. My daughter unfortunately got lice from her cousins and it was a horrible infestation. As soon as a bug would come in contact with the comb though it would die immediately. Other combs we tried did NOT work nearly as well as this one. It does NOT shock you if you touch it so it's completely safe to use on children. This is definitely a product you want to buy in advance "just in case". Also, if you are unfortunate enough to have lice in your home, call your Dr and ask for a prescription. We were able to get a prescription hair product called Sklice that worked wonders! We use this comb every single day now just as a precaution. I will likely wear it out in a couple months but that's fine by me. I know it works and it works great and I will buy more in a heartbeat.

Bought for fleas, don’t waste your money
Used this to comb my pets for fleas. The metal combs are not long enough, and they are not pointy enough. So they can’t pick up the fleas even when combing directly on the flea I can see, it can’t get under it to remove it because it’s too round on the ends. It DOES kill the fleas instantly when one touches it so that’s cool, but I was only able to test this by picking up a flea with my fingers and placing it onto the prongs. Not by actually combing and picking them up. So it does work to kill then, but it’s useless because you can’t pick any up by combing. Don’t waste your money. I bought every different kind of these electric comb zappers that I could find and all of them have the same problems and don’t work. So don’t bother going down this road in trying to kill fleas on your cats or dogs like I did on my cats and dogs. I tried them all and they all suck. They all kill fleas instantly on contact but don’t work when combing to pick anything up. So it’s a waste of time and money. I tried ALL of them. I have given 2 stars because it does actually kill on contact by zapping them.

This product is a joke. I read previous reviews ...
This product is a joke. I read previous reviews and thought I'd try it for myself. I read all the instructions to the t and the first & ONLY time I used it on my daughter it went okay for a few minutes. She then screamed because it shocked her and scared her to death. There was nothing I could do get her to even think about trying this again. So my advice would be to skip this and hopefully get something else.

Lice Comb for Lice; Not All Size Fleas
Bought this for use on my dogs hoping to rid them of fleas. They were always given Frontline Plus, but suddenly it failed to do its job of flea protection and my dogs became infested. This item does not work well for ridding fleas; maybe gets a few big ones, but the littler ones lived on. So, if it says it is for lice, then that is what this item must be used for. Thankfully, my dogs no longer have fleas after getting them on a monthly pill. Seems long term use no longer is effective for flea prevention and they were switched to the pill which works perfectly. Anyway, not everything can serve more than one purpose, so this is tried and proven in my circumstance.
