Primrose 29cm Solar Powered Round Floating Oxygenator Aerator for Small to Medium Ponds Automatic

For me, one of these oxygen aerators is essential during the summer months. I tend to leave the main part on the side of my quite small pond. It's easy to set up; all you have to do is attach the line with the air stone to the solar part. It works better in full sunshine, but will also work in low light, although less well.

I bought one on 20th March, dont think I will buy another, I previously had one which worked fine for a long time, but eventually packed up, so I got another, I have checked it over the motor is running but the output is minimal, no blockages, it started off great when I got it first, but I think now the best place for it is the bin

It works , good product, as long as the sun shines it works , most important thing it provides air to water the fish soon come to enjoy it.

My outdoor pond (about 550 litres in size) was getting little smelly which I feel was down to low oxygen levels during sunny days. I found this solar reasonably powerful enough though not as powerful as a mains one but that's to be expected. Though it's designed to float in the pond, I found it takes up too much surface area so I fitted a longer hose and placed it outside of the pond also I have a lot plants that were blocking the sunshine at times. I had consider getting one with separate pump and solar panel but preferred to get this one as it is self contained and a good price. It only works when it is in direct sunshine though this is when it is most needed. I placed it at a slight angle to where the sun is at its highest. I found it has improved the condition of my pond. My only gripe is being a sealed pump it's not likely to be serviceable though with the amount of sunshine about I don't feel it's likely to wear out quickly. I recommended this product.

Good product, certainly runs well when in direct sunlight, but not sure it was made clear enough in the advert that it ONLY runs in DIRECT sunlight, we have a pond on the South side of our house, in South Wales, yet this doesn't start pumping until the sun is really high in the sky and if there is any cloud cover, it stops entirely. It's certainly some welcome oxygen when the sun is directly on the pond, which as the advert says is when it's most needed, but if the sun goes behind a cloud for a few seconds, this thing stops altogether and if it's a cloudy day, with plenty of sunlight still causing Algae growth, but no direct light to fire up the device, this doesn't work at all, so contributes nothing at that point and becomes a floating plastic disc :( It's not the most attractive product either, so with two fountains, a pump and a UV filter already running and some oxygenating plants in my pond as well, I may take this off the pond altogether for what it actually adds. For those with smaller ponds, (Mine is only 1333 litres, so not massive) who are not looking for crystal clear water and attractive features (I am), this will no doubt be perfect to keep the water that little bit cleaner with little effort, but if you're wanting something to do some all day oxygenation, regardless of cloud cover and to continue oxygenating once the direct sunlight has stopped, in order to try and make up for the time that the pond was in direct sunlight through the day, this probably isn't for you.

The item was bought 2025-04-12, less than a month later it no longer functions. When you pay £40 you expect it to work more than 4 weeks; it's rubbish - do not buy. Contacted Amazon, but they are as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Have contacted the seller, but I'm not holding my breath.

This product is really effective. It supplements my pond pump and helps to keep the pond clean. The recent sunny weather has proved how effective the solar system works and the goldfish seem to be much more active in the cleaner pond water. I was so pleased with the product that I purchased a second one as a spare.

The floating design and use of solar energy made this an ideal choice for a small pond. It did not appear to be working, but was left to charge and when observed later appeared to be pumping air into the water. It is quite large at 12 inches, and could do with a battery test button to confirm it is functioning.
