Thin, bendy metal. A lot of sharp edges. Powder coat scratches off easily during assembly and transport. The cooking grates are made out of the same thin black-painted stuff, thus they come with a warning "don't cook directly on this surface" unless you want chemicals in your food.Still, it is fun to use for the occasional marshmallow-roasting type backyard hangout. It looks attractive enough. The ashes stay nicely contained in the solid bottom surface, with plenty of air intake through the side grates. The lid is a nice touch, though it won't actually extinguish the fire since there's no way to block the air vents.I doubt it would hold up very long if stored outside in the elements. We carry ours under the porch to store it after each use. I bet it will last a few years if we use it five times a year. Maybe occasional repainting will help.

The product came with a dent in the cover and my husband had to file down the large grates ring where the pole slides through because of rough welds. It wasn’t to hard to put together and looks good on the patio. It seems to be sturdy but we haven’t had a fire in it yet. I would have given it a better rating if it hadn’t had the flaws.

just assembled it and there are a lot of adjustments and fasteners. Don't plan on putting much weight on the outer ring. The one thing I'm disappointed in is the quality of the metal. A number of screw heads (phillips) easily strip out and at least one had the threads strip.
