This is an excellent book. I have used it three times to teach a course with the same title. The students like the book even though they find it challenging. The solved problems at the end of each chapter are an integral part of this book and the students and I have found it beneficial to work through all the details of the solutions that are provided. The introduction to diffusion through Onsager's irreversible thermodynamic treatment is basic to the subject and is the only book I am aware of in the field of materials science and engineering that commences with this treatment. The authors provide an introduction to irreversible thermodynamics that is very readable. Many of the chapters have excellent tables that summarize the main results.David N. SeidmanWalter P. The book is in good condition. The hardcover fade a little bit but the content is perfect as a new one.

Good book for engineers. Even though it is really deep sometimes and hard to get (for me at least), it still covers the essential stuff in depth. And the problems have the solution.

Very Comprehensive Introduction
THis book provides a very comprehensive introduction to the topic. Would have been nicer if it had ventured further into some of the topics especially the thermodynamics aspects of it, but is generally a brilliant book.

勉強やりなおす人に
MITのOCWに講義ノートが掲載さている教科書。第一刷は極めて多量のミスプリがあります。万一買ってしまった場合は、本と同名のサイトで修正情報が入手できます。非平衡の現象を統一して理解するための本です。昔私は結晶成長、相分離なと熱力学の範疇で教わりました。拡散は偏微分方程式の解としてです。最初にfluxが厳密に導入されます。安達のベクトル解析でポンとV・Aの内積で出てくる流量(流束)ですが、重要です。学卒対象の教科書なので、ベクトル解析は最低限習得していないと最初から躓きます。私は、これから勉強やりなおしです。というか、速度論は初めて勉強です。今の若い人はいいですね。
