Awakens every emotion!
This is such a lovely book, it's funny, sad, sexy and shocking. What happens to Mia could happen to anyone. Despite being married, having a stepson and also a demanding job she was very lonely, and resorted to attending a therapy group for people with deceased pets, even though her beloved cat, Pigeon, was alive and well. Her life falls apart, and she spirals into depression. Fear not, this is a very funny book, Dawn O'Porter manages to handle themes such as this with such ease and even throws in a few saucy scenes to boot! I laughed out loud one minute and cried the next, Excellently written. Thanks to Pigeonhole and Dawn O'Porter for the chance to read in staves, can highly recommend!

Surprisingly emotional
I thought that this was going to be a comedy and although it is there are some serious scenes and themes. Death, depression, grief and suicide are all themes of this very well written book. Dawn O'Porter's style is very up front and sex does feature in an explicit way. Raced through it, I really enjoyed it.

animal lovers must read
Witty but also sharp. Gets better and better. Recommended to people whose partners have pets and can’t understand the relationship between them.Therapeutic reading.

3.5 stars
It kept me reading right up until the end but it was a funny mix of story overlaid with so much grief. It had a core of sadness running throughout it with a side order of numbness. Parts of it made me cry. It wasn't strictly what I signed up for when I bought the book, but I was happy to stick along for the ride, although it felt uncomfortable in places and like I was holding space as a therapist for the book to finish. Because it deserved to be listened to. It reminded me to be compassionate with everyone grieving, - thats most people actually. So I didnt love it, but I did appreciate it and thought maybe it might help some people who are struggling, to feel less alone.
