Excellent coat, but...
The coat is very good at protecting my dog from the rain and wind. It also looks very comfortable and warm. The opening on the top to clip the lead to a harness is great. Also, it's washable and keeps its shape after washing. The only issue I found with this coat is with the elastic that goes around each of the dog's back legs. One of them came loose a few days after the coat arrived. I fixed it and now another one came loose. This is a quality issue and the manufacturer should enforce the seams between the coat and the elastics to ensure this doesn't happen. All in all I'm very happy with this coat. I recommend it with the caveat to have the elastic around the legs reinforced by the manufacturer.

good coat
this is a good coat BUT i should have read up about it more carefully. the strap goes between the dog's front legs, then does up at the sides, over itself. i have arthritis and have a low tummed dog-basset hound, so this is quite difficult for me. also the tum strap is quite forward (behind the dog's front legs) so the coat will blow up unless you use the back leg elastication.. If you have a dog that hates its legs being lifted, then this would be a problem. also the gap for the harness/lead is positioned a bit awkwardly-i had to cut it to make it fit. and, most importently, the head gap is fixed and rather small. i had to cut this to make it fit my basset's head. BUT saying all this, i kept the coat as this will do as an 'emergency' one when we just go in the garden-we loves to roll and mess about-this is so easy to wash and dry-it is easier to do that than try and wash HIM-so it is useful-and a lovely cheery red.

Great coat
This is the first time my 14 year old Cairn terrier has worn a coat and being so light she didn't seem to mind it at all. I bought a medium as she is overweight at 10 kilos and the length is perfect, due to the generous length of velcro it fitted well around her middle, between her front legs it was slightly loose so some rain did get in making the inside slightly wet, also I couldn't use the elastic on her back legs as she has arthritis, this stops the back of the coat being blown upwards, I see several other people have also commented on this, maybe straps that fastened with a popper might be better. The hole that you could poke the lead through and then attach to her collar was great as it meant the neck on the coat could stay up giving her better protection from the rain, there is also another zipped area for you to attach a harness.Overall I would say this is a great coat, value for money, easy and quick to put on and well designed

Waterproof
Primarily wanted a waterproof jacket that also covered as much of the underside of the dog as possible.Great on both counts.Of course had to fit (just about), be affordable (was discounted), look halfway decent and easy to put on.Jacket meets needs albeit a tight fit but the leg elastics look completely uncomfortable for my dog so they've been cut off and another way found to make the jacket fit more closely to body.

The absolute best coat my dog has owned.
This coat is superb. Better than any other I’ve owned before. So my little chaps old coat had fallen apart and the Velcro was no longer sticking so I went looking for a replacement. I came across this and based on the excellent reviews I ordered it. I’m so thrilled. It’s an excellent fit , I ordered medium for my Shih Tzu . I wanted one that was a little long to cover his tail and this is perfect. The measurements are exactly as advertised. The coat goes over his head and then the chest cover slips between the front legs and Velcro’s over the top. Then there are little Velcro straps that fit round the back legs. In fairness you wouldn’t necessarily have to use these but it does keep the coat central. If these did come off they would be easy to sew on some more. I found it really easy to put on him. There is a hole under the collar for a neck lead and a zipped hole lower down for use if your pooch wears a harness. It’s in exactly the right place for a harness as that’s what we use. I absolutely love the fact that the Velcro waist strap is on top of the dog. Much easier to secure and it doesn’t get all muddy and full of grass and twigs. I also love the chest cover as it keeps most of the tummy clean. This only arrived today and as luck would have it it was throwing it down with rain when we went for his afternoon walk. My little lad stayed dry and much cleaner than he would have done so no bath needed when we got home ( one very happy dog) .I just gave him a wipe down on his legs. I gave the coat a wipe down too and that’s all it needed . It can be washed on a cool wash if required. The coat is fleece lined so will be fab in the winter. I’ve inspected the stitching and the way it’s been put together and it’s very well made and I can’t see any potential weaknesses. The highlight edging will be great in the winter too for making him more visible in the dark. I really cant find fault with this coat and I’m so pleased I ordered it. I will be telling all my friends so they can kit out their pooches too.

It makes a good attempt !
The style is very easy to put in for a fidgety dogIt covers her tummyIt gives her decent protection but not 5*I imagine 5* is more difficult to put on though , especially for a fidgety puppyThe downside of being easy to put on and take off means it is quite gappy and it’s hard to keep the cold and lashing rain totally off her . And out the gaps .. it doesn’t exactly hug her body but does keep the worst off herIt is good that it has a harness hole - so necessaryI think the little elastic bits at the back for the hind legs are not very robust … easy to ping them if caught during play with another dog. Then the whole thing flaps offHowever - I have been happy in generalI bought on in the snow spell in early decmeober . She was a 44cm and the coats come in 40 or 50We decided she would grow into the 50 but it just fell off her and she tripped over itI then got the 40 and that was manageable and did her perfectly over ChristmasNow it is nearly February , the bigger one is no longer hanging off herWe are happy with it unless it is a very stormy day.. but the truth is … she doesn’t have to go out in the middle of a stormFor the money - I think it’s a good coat !
