Just a large deposit on the bottom
I just received this lava lamp for my son and I am very disappointed. There’s just a hard chunk of lava sitting on the bottom of the lamp. No matter how I shake the lamp, it does not become fluid. I am very disappointed with this purchase.

to cloudy
the lamp was very cloudy I could barely see the green wax, I waited several days for it to clear up thinking it was because of the mail but it hasn't, very disappointed

Huge conversation piece
This is such a hit in my house. I got it as a novelty because I had a very similar one as a kid. Everyone loves it, visitors always comment on it. Kids and adults will just sit calmly and watch it bubble away. We love it.It does take about 30-40 minutes to heat up and start bubbling. It is also quite hot to the touch while running and we need to protect little fingers from getting burned.Overall, if you had a Lava Lamp in the 90s, this is the one that you want to get!

Reminiscent of 60s/70s Lava Lamps, a little unsteady on the base, but fun and good value
Reminiscent of the Lava Lamps of the 60s and 70s, this lamp makes a fun room accent. The colors, yellow and blue, take on a greenish cast but are very pretty and hypnotic as the heated wax breaks free, rises and falls over and over. The liquid is somewhat cloudy, but it doesn't detract from the overall effect. The lamp comes in three parts. The base of the lamp contains a small, 30w bulb to heat the wax; there is an on/off switch on the cord. The main body of the lamp is glass and filled with the wax and liquid; the top is sealed with a crimped cap (like an old fashioned soda bottle). There is a cap that matches the base and fits over the top of the bottle. The lamp feels top heavy and a little unsteady on the base, so find a solid, stable surface in a low-traffic area to put this.Prior to first use, the core of wax and come loose and was almost resting on it's side in the bottle. After the lamp had been plugged in for about 90 minutes the wax began to melt and the first blob broke away from the core and floated to the top. At the 2 hour mark, the core was completely melted and slowly breaking away and floating upward. By 3 hours the bubbles were moving up and down pretty quickly. This is a relatively lightweight imitation of the original Lava Lamps. It's fun and a good value for the price. It's nicely packaged and would be suitable for gifting. Recommended.
