Excellent introduction into the world of Pre-Raphaelite Artists. Superbly illustrated.

I love books on Art and this was a joy. There was illustrations that were excellent and it was very informative. A book to read and look at, one that will personally treasure. The art was beautiful and shows what a delight this period in Art had.

If you are someone like myself, ie someone who has fallen in love with the work of the PRB's but knows very little about them, or indeed only has a small view of their work, then this book is an excellent way to begin to build your knowledge about them and their art. The first part outlines the artists and focuses on some of their sketches and backgrounds to their more famous works. The second part then shows the more famous pieces of art at a larger scale and is printed using a beautiful colour palette. Given the huge number of books about the Pre-Raphaelites I found it difficult to know where to begin but feel that this has been an excellent starting point. Having just browsed through its pages I know that it will give me hours of pleasure and, hopefully, will help guide me as I explore these wonderful artists and help take me into understanding them at deeper levels. Highly recommended!

This is a pretty impressive overall coverage of the Pre-raphaelites (well known as well as the lesser lights) and it was packed with a lot of information. Some images I have never seen before as well, which is always great. Some of the images were not as sharp or as high quality as perhaps they should be but then again, I would love to see a book of the painting as actual size in super sharp quality 500 pages etc but I suspect the price would not be under a tenner but I was still pretty pleased with this nice concise volume. There are many others in the series and I notice that many are themed on a single artist, really hope they bring out more books on Mannerism 500 Paintings or Gothic 500 Paintings or Spanish Painting or Food in Art etc as well as perhaps some of the not so well known artists such as Arthur Hughes, Ford Maddox Brown, Fra Angelico etc. There are so many books about Leonardo, Monet but not so many about the others

Enjoyed this book very much. Covers all the main Pre-Raphaelites and all the minor ones with fairly detailed bio's. Lots of colour reproductions of various sizes. If you are new to the PRB then this is a first class starter.

Excellent book, very concise and not overblown with some great photos. I have wanted one on the Pre Raphaelitescfor a little while but found some of them quite expensive. The book covers the period of the Brotherhood and later PreRaphaelite artists. Highly recommended for the price.

Sono molto felice di questo acquisto. Difficile trovare libri che offrono una panoramica ben fatta sull'argomento. Ho trovato quasi per "miracolo" questa edizione in lingua inglese e l'ho letto e ancora lo sfoglio con piacere. Le riproduzioni fotografiche forse potevano essere migliori ma se voglio posso trovare in rete tutte le riproduzioni che desidero.
