Alias Emma: A Novel

British spy novel
I enjoyed the perspective of a woman spy. From her recruitment and training to her toughness and readiness to act with split second decisions. Am looking forward to a follow on story.

Alias Emma reviewed
I found it boring, repetitive and very original

A little old-fashioned escapism is good for the soul…
This is a wild, fast-paced spy story that mostly takes place in London, with Russian and British agents trying to outsmart each other. It would make a good movie, IMO. It’s not quasi-literature, like LeCarre…it’s more like Bond, except the protagonist is female. The author’s writing style is clear, simple, and direct. I thought it was a fun read.

Couldn't put it down
I loved this book so much that I stayed up reading until 2am because I had to finish it. And as soon as I woke up the next morning, I called my dad and told him to buy it and he loved it too. Spy thrillers don't always do the best job of character definition, and I feel like this one did a good job. You really understood Emma and why she made the choices she did. Plus the suspense was killer. I'm not going to talk about the plot because many other reviews do so, just wanted to post to say that if you like spy thrillers, you will love this book. Can't wait to read the author's next book!

A fine and exciting read
The story followed an exciting plot arc and fooled he'd out the main characters quite nicely. The story kept me wondering when the next shoe would drop.Exciting is a good way to describe a 24 hour journey through London's greatest landmarks and still get shot and bashed while winning in the end.Have a good time.

Perfect summer spy thriller
I started this book a few days ago and didn't want to put it down to "do life." I finished it this morning in a few greedy, luxurious morning hours, and it did not disappoint. Emma's character is well-conceived and sympathetic as a relatively new spy, but I also enjoyed the well-crafted action scenes, among which there were plenty. There was a hint of steam between Emma and her reluctant assignment, but nothing to derail the plot's intensity. There must be more to come in the Alias Emma series, and I cannot wait for the next installment.

Fun, fast, and completely believable
A fascinatingly glimpse of British spy craft. Emma’s alias was carefully chosen and she has been well trained by a clever man. This is an action packed novel. Don’t pass it up and don’t put it down.

a clever read
This book was very enjoyable, but the ending was predictable. Nevertheless I enjoyed it and did give it four stars

Excellent
Very fast-paced action. I soon established a rapport with Emma and the other characters are very strong and well drawn. This was recommended to me by WI Life!!! So glad I downloaded it. Almost unputable-down. Saw London in a new light too.

A thrilling ride from start to finish!
From the first opening scene to the conclusion this story doesn't let up - fast paced and full of action with plenty of mystery to keep you hooked. I really like Emma as a character- i was rooting for her to succeed. She is smart and more than able to take care of herself. I really enjoyed the behind the scenes and ins & outs of how a secretive government organisation goes about it's business. The descriptions of London throughout the book are so emmersive and i could vividly imagine each location. All and all I would thoroughly recommend!

Nice Book - enjoyed reading it
The plotline was good but sometimes a little long. I really liked the characters and I would have wished for a Emma’s and Michael love Story to continue. So all in all a good book, but in my opinion Night School (also one of her books, which she wrote under C.J. Daugherty) was much better.

just ok
I myself don’t like books that continually go back and forth from past to present, so i found myself skipping pages, i would hope the next book doesn’t do that and to be honest not sure i would bother with the second book. Be careful this book is now out as THE CHASE, it’s still the same book they just renamed it and put it back as if it’s a new book. Shameful Amazon
