Easy to use
My husband uses this to plane roots off of trees so the lawn mower blades do not scrape the top of the root, causing either the mower blades to become dull or it can cause the mower to tip if the blade gets caught. Being battery powered is a huge plus as he uses it in the back forty, so to speak. The battery lasts quite a while, at least as long as he does. He is very pleased with this product.

Very Good Cordless Power Planer.
Very powerful for a cordless tool. Battery life is great and has a very fast recharge time. Adjustment of blade depth is easy and accurate. The tool is well balanced and easy to use. 5 year guarantee is a big plus. If you need a cordless power planer this is the one to get.

Good value
Love this tool, I switched over from a corded electric hand planer and this does feel like it has a little less power, but it’s hard to beat cordless on job sites these days. The price was right compared to the other brands I buy, happy with my purchase.

Loving the new PWR Core20 Line
I’ve been looking for a good cordless planer. I bought this one because I heard great things about the new PWR Core20 line for Skil. This was the only planer I could find that came with a battery that was 4.0 ah or better for under $150

Great addition to my collection of tools
This tool does exactly what it's supposed to do. I made some really rough cuts when I was creating the front side of some shelves I'm building in my pantry. I wanted to make sure I didn't under-cut them, so I over-cut them purposefully knowing I had this planer that could perfect them in the end. It took the rough edges and gave me the smooth precise shelves I was hoping for. The dust collection was much appreciated since I was working in my pantry and not my garage. This planer delivers high-quality results.

Review: Skil Planer Exec Summ: Very good tool, a little heavy, battery could be better. Recommended
As a woodworker, my planer, jointer and table saw are how I mill wood to prep it for building. You use the jointer to get one edge flat, smooth and perpendicular to the sides. You use the table saw with the planed edge to get the two sides aligned as well as the front and back edges of the board milled to size. Then you use a planer to get it milled to thickness. I hadn't considered the use of a hand planer before...but there are times when I'm hewing a large piece of wood and need a flat smooth surface. This planer is perfect for that. Cordless, its easy to maneuver around the material. The bite is solid, consistent and, so long as the plane integrity is intact (no wavering mid cut!), the results were quite good. I took down a 12"x8' piece of stock in under 5 minutes and only had to do a little cleanup with sandpaper. The unit is heavy so moving it to where its needed took some work. But once there, it did its work well. My only drawbacks were weight (I'm not sure a lighter unit would have worked so well) and battery life (which is just so so, but given that I may only use it once on any given day, not a problem). If you are likely to use this multiple times a day, you may wish to simply leave it charging. If not, like me, you'll just charge it at the end of the day.If you are considering purchasing, I was pleased with the hand planer and I would recommend it!

Very nice tool for planing projects
I'm always looking for power tools as I do many smaller projects around the house. There are times that I've wished for a planer and using a hand push model is a real pain. With the opportunity to review this one, I was thrilled. It is not a light weight unit. The bottom is generously large for help in not gouging the wood. That said, there was one issue with this unit and it is that they shipped it or it was damaged in shipment: The cutting blade has chinks in it right in the middle of the blade. When I used it, they don't seem to make any additional markings, but a new unit should not pass quality control damaged. Or if it was damaged in shipment, then a different protection mechanism is needed. The battery is a 4Ah battery and is quite nice. The charging station (while the fan is a little annoying) is very well set up and quite capable for Skill's entire battery lineup. There is a switch for scraps from the cuttings to flow to either side of the planer and this is very nice. The cuttings seem to all flow into the bag and that makes for a nice clean up. It is not an infinite setting cutting blade and that might be a problem for some. There are click-in settings that are very small increments, but still, it is not an infinitely variable movement like the old fashioned hand push units. The initial cuts that I made were clean and smooth. I made them in soft pine to see if the blade problem showed up in the wood. I am very excited to have received this unit. I also have an orbital sander from Skill that uses the same battery power stations and batteries. Most of the higher (Milwaukee is usually my choice) end tool companies are settling in on a battery power station and battery set that is mix and match. As stated earlier, I'm usually a purchaser of Milwaukee, but Skill has really stepped up with this line of tools. I certainly would recommend this unit and will look at their entire line after using this one.

AWESOME PRO GRADE BUDGET BELTER WORTH EVERY $$$$"
Another AWESOME SKIL tool,I,m a cabinet fitter who used to own RIDGID 18v tools. NO LONGER!!! I purchased skil 12v right angle Impact driver as couldn't get hold of ridgid one or one a decent price . OMG , skil all,the way now. These SKIL 12V &20v are excellent value ,prosummer tools with 5 year warranty.may not be ridgid lifetime but rest makes up for it.so i bought this planer as only tool I didn't have that was cordless!!Arrived in good time, this planer is awesome (finding batteries nightmare). It comes with dust bag, instructions, blade spanner, depth huage and rebate guide. The planer is solid very comfortable in hand with mice overmold grip, it's well balanced with battery. The baseplate is solid not cheap pressed metal. It has chamfer Grove which is perfect size and gives great result. The blower ports for dust are keft/right change depending on planing so don't get mouthful. The depthguage and rebate guide are solid and give 90 degree rebate.cutting is easy not sure on battery life but results are great on timber. The tool has soft start, so no jerks.theblade depth is easily adjustable and even has Park mode which puts front shoe higher than blade, to stop blade hitting work surface also has kickstand on back shoe to stop this too.Only wish measures were highlighted not same colour as knob.Biggest issue is SKIL needs to make tools available especially batteries to us Canadians.Would I recommend this Hell Yeah. And Amazon gives great service
