Fast-paced action thriller
Directed by Cavayé, who gave us the excellent "Anything For Her", this film is non-stop action from 10 minutes into the story until the very end. While AFH was a slow build-up for two thirds of the story, climaxing in the last third with fast-paced action, "Point Blank" feels as if the writer/director decided to make the whole film in that fast pace. The result is a picture that keeps you at the edge of your couch practically from start to finish.I can see the American remake coming in the horizon... Probably with a budget five times bigger. This French original feels very real, filmed on location at neck-breaking speed. The "making of" featurette included in the blu-ray DVD is well worth watching. It's a wonder there were not more people injured during the filming in the streets and subway stations of Paris. The choice of title ("Point Blank") could not have been worse in translating it from the French "à bout portant". It creates confusion with John Boorman's classic with Lee Marvin, and the stories are totally different. I could think of twenty other suitable titles for this picture: "Relentless", "Unflinching", "Practical Training For Nurse Exam"... Do distributors do this deliberately to confuse us?

It's the wrong film. Wake up projectionist!
This is the wrong film. Against the title 'Point Blank' two films are displayed -- with different illustrations (against this review space they have placed the poster illustration not for the Lellouche film but for the Boorman film. Read on...) . Both films are given the same (Lellouche) description! One, however, has all the correct credits for the John Boorman/Lee Marvin film - which is the one I I wanted to watch, so I rented it. It was the wring film. It only cost 99p to rent so that's not my issue. I was very frustrated not to be able to watch the film I wanted to watch, and I'd love to tell someone in charge to wake up and sort this out, but I don't know how. Enjoy

Very entertainingg
Point Blank, French title À Bout Portant, is a wonderfully over-the-top action film, with superb acting from the whole cast (including amongst others, Gilles Lellouche, Roschdy Zem, Gérard Lanvin and Elena Anaya) and stuntmen, equally good camera work and directing and with a simple enough plot.If you’re looking for something super-intelligent with a deep message you will need to find another film but if you want an entertaining well made action film then you may well be pleased with a viewing of Point Blank. The DVD has:The film Point Blanc (1 hour 20 minutes)Scene SelectionOriginal Theatrical Trailer (2 minutes)Making Of Documentary (50 minutes)Photo GalleryTrailer for the film AnonymousTrailer for the film FasterThe main film and the making of documentary have English subtitles (there is not an option for no subtitles), the main film does have an option for subtitles for the hard of hearing.

Another Great Purchase!!
I did see this film on TV and thought it was really good. I was sorry I had not recorded it. I went on "Amazon" my trusty site and there it was . So I quickly bought it. Great film! Really exciting. I do so like these foreign films, I have got used to the sub titles, I do not even notice them now. There is so much more about these films than ours. (Sorry don't want to offend)I must add, whilst on the subject, I thought "Spiral" was the best ever, and I am very impatiently waiting for Series five. I really like "The Protectors" and of course, do not forget "inspector Montalbano" that is a MUST.My seller was "Brill" arrived nearly before I ordered it and in great condition.Regards "Pam.Thank You Amazon.

Completely the wrong movie I wanted to watch
I wanted to watch a classic film called Point Blank starring Lee Marvin downloading it using my fire stick. The poster showing had a picture with Lee Marvin & a few credits incuding directed by John Boorman. However, after paying for the movie something completely different started. I went back to the poster & the review for the movie was for the one showing. I called customer services & spoke to a very helpful lady who implied I would get a refund but unfortunately the reception on the call was terrible & after waiting a few minutes I hung up. I have not as yet received my refund. Overall rating so far is nil.

A thrilling action ride
A very fast paced crime thriller. Gilles Lelouche is a man forced on the run and trying to save his wife from her kidnappers. He is forced to accept the help of a violent criminal (Roschdy Zem) who is far more street-wise than him.It is as good as any of the Bourne or Taken movies and moves just as fast as them, if not faster. You have to concentrate to keep up with the action and often you don't really need the subtitles. .If you're a fan of dramatic action movies, this is for you.The DVD also has a fascinating 50 minute "Making Of" documentary showing just how complicated it is to put together this kind of film.
