Mission Towels are Great!
These are terrific! I have used Mission cooling towels for years. I have become intolerant of temperatures in the 90F+. We went with a group of friends to Mexico and I was concerned about high heat so I ordered one for each person! They really work! They do dry out, not quickly but I use them for hours at a time. I soak it really well and put extra water in a pint sized baggie so I can rewet it if needed. I rinse them out, twist out all the water and hang them up. In my world they are perfect!!!

but this is just exponentially better. First off
I have had heat sickness incidents for years. No matter how prepared, nor how much effort I put in to making sure I was okay, pales in comparison to what I have needed to do in order to ensure I did not overheat. I have to be hyper vigilant when it comes to watching my diet as I do not eat a lot of salt so I get enough electrolytes on a regular basis otherwise it is another trip to the Emergency room. I have ordered a side of bacon for lunch in the past just to ensure I drink tons of water afterwards. As it is, I drink nearly a gallon of water a day.I have seen this product for a while now, but never in use, much less any place where I could try it out. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I ordered it and have been using it ever since. I am so grateful for this towel! I have a similar product from a different very reputable company, but this is just exponentially better.First off, I like the color. For whatever reason people do not assume I have been injured when wearing it, unlike the other product.Secondly, you have to wet this product and then use it whereas the other product relies on moisture on the surface of our skin. Because I have had so many problems with heat sickness in general, I can get sick in temperatures as low as the low-mid 70s. I have been so over heated and feeling poorly that I have an 8 hour ice pack that I freeze, and would bring to bed with me. I would literally hug the ice pack so I could cool off and sleep. The towel keeps me cooler, not as cold as hugging an ice pack, but definitely cooler than sleeping without it.Lastly, I cannot say it lasts 8 hours like my ice pack, but I can absolutely say it lasts for several hours. This is a definite benefit because all I have to do is wet it and it starts cooling me off. With the other product, cooling off has been harder for me to achieve simply because I have not had any moisture to cool myself off with to kickstart the wrap. Here is a snapshot of my real world experience with this towel:Around 3pm earlier today, I had to go to a store and pick something up. I was in the store for less than 5 minutes but the temperature was still rising. When I got back to to my car, the temp gauge on my rear view mirror said it was only 93 which is a hot day, but certainly not an anomaly. I was not feeling well and there wasn't any perspiration I could use to wet a towel. Fortunately, I was able to go to a drive through restaurant, get a cup of cold ice water, soaked my towel a bit and was cool enough to make it home. The towel is made from a special fabric which has been repels water so soaking it or running it under cold water isn't going to really cause this to soak up a bunch of water. In spite of the challenge in getting it wet, I was still able to benefit from it whereas I would not have been able to benefit at all with the competitor's product. I have no problem in recommending this product to others even if they do not have issues with heat.I am in the process of looking at what other products are available from Mission Athletecare because the temperature inside my bedroom has been hot enough at times to cause my electronic devices behave strangely, lose files on my computers, and ultimately cause them to shut down. A computer can be replaced, an overheated Windedhiker, cannot.

It cools, but not for hours
I got the original Mission cooling towel in bright blue color. The plastic container has a tennis player on it. There is one towel inside the plastic tubular container. The product description says it will cool for hours. Actual experience indicates otherwise. 30 to 45 minutes when used as directed. At 85F, 40% relative humidity.Snapping the towel doesn't make much difference in the cooling performance. It does cool nicely when it's working.Likes:Machine wash.Doesn't have a funky smell like regular towels.Has a small loop so you can wear it around your neck securely.Nice cooling sensation around the neck.Dislikes:When used as directed, the cooling towel doesn't cool for hours. One work around is to get it dripping wet and then don't wring it dry completely.Things to try. Instead of put it under a faucet to wet it, soak it in a water filled container or sink for a minute. Maybe that will allow the towel to absorb more water.Putting the wet cooling towel on your forehead when lying down provides above average cooling sensation.Other uses: Hang the wet cooling towel in front of a fan. Don't cover the fan completely. This setup give you an instant swamp cooler. Experiment with fan speed and distance to the fan. Conclusion: I like it. The towel has multiple uses. The pluses outweigh the negatives. At $9, it's a decent purchase.

Did the trick!
I was skeptical I admit, but figured it was a low enough price to take a chance but I'm happy to report these things work as described. I bought mine in advance of a three-day outdoor music festival (late July, always very hot and in direct sun), hoping it would offer a means of cooling off a bit. Sure enough it definitely did the job, and furthermore was an excellent way of protecting the back of my neck from the sun rays. There was plenty of fresh water at the festival to renew the cloth when needed, but it lasted for quite awhile even so. If it started getting warm a quick opening up and airing out usually cooled it off again and it was ready to go. I can imagine if it were soaked in ice water it would be amazing, though I didn't test it.Easy to clean and rinse out, once it's completely dry it makes for a good cloth to absorb sweat after a workout too.Now it SHOULD be obvious, but it only works for the areas of the body it's in contact with. It also should be used so as to KEEP you cool, right? If you're body is already really overheated, or in danger of heat exhaustion, this isn't going to solve that, so be smart about it.

Hubby loves this gift!
I had bought my hubby a cooling towel a couple of years ago and wanted to pick up another one for him. The summer weather has him running again and he really loves this particular towel! It works better than his previous one (another brand) and he sais it DOES keep him much cooler for much longer when he is on his runs. He'd certainly reccomend it to anyone trying to stay cool in the heat.
