This is a heart warming story about a lonely cowboy riding into the town’s schoolhouse for the annual Christmas dance. Somehow he gets waylaid with challenges that keep him from getting to his destination. However, Stubby’s Christmas doesn’t disappoint!

If you are looking for a powerful Christmas Story that is not the ordinary or not full of commercialism, then look no further. I am a great fan of the author and this book is definitely in his style. However it is the story that truly matters. It is not a long read so could be read in one sitting or a few short settings depending on the attention span of your little ones. This should definitely be a holiday classic.

Every year for many Christmas I read this book. After a major move I could not find it. So I bought another copy.It is an old fashion Western Christmas story. A young cowboy is delayed on his trip to town for the big barn dance. He finds the Spirit of Christian love and the love a Mother has for her children. It is a Blessing to read this book year after year. I even read it to my students back in the day you could.

Good short story for all age groups.

Where has this little book been my whole life? Love it

As a child we used to gather at the home of a family friend each Christmas to hear this story read. It's a memory I cherish, so I just had to track down the original printed edition. The story has been published in Boy's Life twice and in Leader Lore so if you don't have any luck finding an original copy, you may be able to find in there.The story itself is that of a hardened cowhand who discovers, at Christmas time, generosity and compassion he never knew he had, and the happiness it can bring. It's written in a unique, and, at times humourous style that older kids seem to love.Highly recommended.

Holiday cheer overcomes the situation with a western background. A good read anytime of the year for all age groups. And it's inexpensive on Amazon.
