Nominal Performance
The product only delivered about 250 to 350 megabits per second (Mbits), well below the published 10 gigabits per second (Gbits), a speed that seems outrageous. That is, 10 Gbits is off the chart. My isp supposedly provides 1 Gbit, which is very fast, requires a special modem, and costs more. Though, the most I have ever seen is about 900 megabits per second (Mbits), about 100 Mbits below the isp's advertised one Gbit. While the FedSmart driver kind of worked, it in never appeared in the device manager. Go figure? When I attempted to contact the vendor, the phone number had been removed. The next time I buy something online near the $100 level, I going to ensure I can contact the vendor before making the purchase. I am going to return the FedSmart card to Amazon. I don't know if the company is a scam or out of business. But with an Amazon purchase, one never needs to worry about such things.

Great price for a performant dual 10Gb card!
The card was packaged well, about on par with just about every other NIC I've ordered here on Amazon. The card itself was in an antistatic bag. Included in the box were instructions and a disc with the drivers. You can also download drivers from Intel's website (which is my preferred approach).I like that a short bracket was included. I have other machines that use the short bracket type. The inclusion of the short bracket seems standard for NICs here on Amazon.The build quality is good. The heatsink is much larger than the chip it's collecting heat from. It's mounted to the board with spring-loaded standoffs. The heatsink can be rocked back and forth on top of the chipset. Regardless it seems like the heatsink and thermal pad are making good contact with the chipset, so I don't expect this will have a negative effect on performance. See the images for the gap between the heatsink and PCB.This card has dedicated status LEDs for both the power state of the card and an established link. The LEDs are part of the RJ-45 port, which is my preference. Others have the LEDs surface-mounted on the PCB, which causes lots of light to bleed in the case.I connected this card to a test bench machine, installed the appropriate drivers, and connected it to another 10Gb interface using CAT6 cables. This was a machine-to-machine connection without an intermediate router or switch to skew results. The card performed fine, operating at approximately 10Gbps. This speed is on par with other 10Gb cards I've used.To test link integrity I ran another throughput test using iperf3 that lasted an hour. I did not see any dropouts in the link. The card was definitely warm at the end of the test, but that's what the heatsink is for. If you're putting this in a gaming PC you should look into mounting a fan on the heatsink. The test was performed from Fedora Workstation 36.At the time of writing this review, the price of this card was $95.99. For two 100-meter 10Gb RJ-45 interfaces I think that's a great price. If you were to buy a two-port SFP+ card the 10GBASE-T transceivers alone would cost more than $100. You can't change to fiber with this card, but for small business or household use the 100m supported distance should be fine. This price also seems lower than others on the market.I've also reviewed another dual 10Gb RJ-45 card from NETELY (ASIN B0BZ8KK13R) that is currently listed for $99.99. The cards look to be the same and both perform well, so you may save a couple of bucks there if the other card is on sale. The other card also has a black heatsink instead of the green one here.

Bittersweet future-proofing network upgrade
If you have other 10Gbps devices on your network, this is a crazy fast card. The fact that it's using an Intel chipset definitely shows a high quality build.Two plates are provided to use in full size or slim size slots, covering the bases for different installation options.The card definitely functions as advertised, and for that, I am giving it 4 stars.I did not do enough research into the card's specific capabilities before ordering, so this is a bittersweet networking upgrade, and is my fault for not doing enough research into the chipset before ordering, since I can see now that this is spelled out in the item's listing.The specific Intel X540-AT2 chipset has actually already been discontinued by Intel, with a last sale date of July 15, 2022. And, more importantly, especially for installation on a home network, this chipset does NOT support 2.5 or 5Gps modes, and instead only operates at 100Mbps, 1Gbps, and 10Gbps speeds. This means that this card won't see any benefits from upgrading other networking components above 1Gbps unless you go all the way to 10Gbps, which effectively makes my 2.5Gbps equipment less useful. There are other cards at the same price point (although only with a single port) that can support the speeds between 1Gbps and 10Gbps, which would likely be better suited for home networks that are slowly being upgraded to go faster than 1Gbps.
