Heat Distribution
I expected the area of heat distribution to be slightly larger. I bought this for a male friend who likes to go camping. He was thrilled when I gave it to him. For my personal use I prefer another style but for him it was a thrill. He is going" to the woods" have a cabin, after two weeks. I tested the leconchef induction cook at home, instructions are clear, heats rapidly just met my friend expectations.

Large. Rolling boil one gal 15 min
The media could not be loaded. This is a big unit. It pulled 1765 amps on high and brought one gallon to rolling boil in 15 min and 20 seconds. This works!

Loud fans, slippery feet
Cooker worked well the first time I tried it. Made sure I had the proper pans first. If a magnet sticks to them, they will work with this cooker. Boiled water very fast. It's nice that 100% of the energy goes into the pan/pot rather than up the sides with gas. And it starts heating right away. Superior to resistant electric cook tops.Complaint 1: The fans are quite loud and will turn on when the element is on. Not sure if this normal for this sort of appliance, but they are quite noticeable.Complaint 2: The feet are not rubber and slide very easily. I think if this were to be put in normal use, you would want different slip resistant feet. It's very easy to move this around a counter.

Handles large pots with ease
This is big, and built extremely well (as would be expected for commercial use). I placed it on my four-burner stove at home for a size comparison (see photo). It's very light for it's size, however. I really like that the buttons are on the front of the unit rather than the same surface as the cooktop, as it reduces accidental button presses. At Level 5 (1,000w) it brought 2 cups of water (roughly 50 degrees F from the tap) to a boil in about 3:10 which as faster than my 1,600w microwave - induction does a great job of moving energy into the pot (and therefore the pot's contents). The fan stayed on for a minute or so after shutting off the cooktop (I'm not sure if it's timed or if there's a thermal switch). While the induction coil is round and centered, the black surface meant to hold a pot is about 11" square so this can handle large stock pots and skillets, and the surface is recessed about 1mm from the metal frame so accidental drops won't roll off the sides.

Wow! Induction Cooktop reaches 350 degrees in 8 seconds!
I am overwhelmed by the functionality of this cooktop. This is my first experience with induction technology, and I am so impressed with this item, coupled with my HexClad pan. The pan has an 8” base diameter with an 11” topside diameter. You cannot use a large pan, more than about 9” diameter, so be aware if you have multiple larger induction pans. This works well for medium-sized pans. The readout uses Celsius, not degrees, so it took a moment for me to figure out 350 degrees Fahrenheit is equivalent to 180 degrees Celsius. Again, I was astounded that it hit the temperature almost instantly. I will always use this top over my regular burners any time I am only using one pan for dinner (browning meat, breakfast sausage, then eggs, etc.) It will also do well on the patio for breakfast burritos on a beautiful morning. I do not know how it compares to other similar cooktops, but I absolutely love this item!
