I’ve recently started customising clothing and jewellery using sew on patches, and I am a particular fan of those that incorporate beads, sequins and crystals. So I was pleased to be offered this set of 4 x embellished spider patches. I probably would not have been inclined to choose a spider motif if I’d had other options, but as arachnids go these ones are pretty fabulous! They are considerably larger than I expected, with just the body measuring almost 3in high and over an inch wide exclusive of the legs. As if that doesn’t give them enough impact, they feature gold beads, clear rhinestones, and large black faceted crystals set into the body for a very eyecatching look. They arrive in a reusable plastic storage box that keeps them nicely intact until you are ready to use them. They need to be sewn on rather than ironed, but the £6.19 they cost at time of review will translate to a much more expensive-looking embellishment once they have been added to a garment.
