Doesn't really simplify anything
Hardly the “simplify” alluded to in the title as there is so much detail, too much for the novice gardener really. Some of the techniques might prove useful but January isn’t the best time of year to test them out.The author goes to great lengths to explain the connection between soil and photosynthesis, the importance of water, minerals, nutrients, microorganisms, and on and on. He also covers propagation, which is of particular interest to me as I like to get as much as I can for my hard earned euro.I think there are better books available for novice gardeners, but nonetheless, this is a good book to dip in and out of.

Great book written by a great gardener!
I love the book! I've followed and watched Tony on youtube for years. He always gives invaluable advice. This book is beautifully done, awesome photography and so, so much information. I'm in Canada, he's in Wales but so far, everything still applies to my gardening. (And he is THE person to go to for info on growing potatoes!)

Gardening Simplified
Very well written starting from the loving dedication to the end. The language was clear, concise, and informative and the photographs were beautiful as well.Mr Tony makes a good case for the importance of growing one’s food and sets about showing how to do it. He defines all the terms and methods he uses or alternatives.I am also watching his videos from my home on the southeastern coast of North Carolina in the USA.

Simplify Vegetable Gardening
Like Tony's previous book on composting, this book is a fantastic investment in your gardening journey.I really like how Tony broke down plant information into families as it makes it easier to transfer knowledge. If you are growing a cucurbit, foe example squash, that is not specifically mentioned in the book, you can look up the family information and transfer that knowledge to your plant. The plant hardiness information is also great in a time where some large chain stores sell seedlings year round and outtm of season, but reading this book you can avoid buying seedlings out of season and the resulting failures.

Comprehensive book on the science of gardening
"Simplify Vegetable Gardening" delves deeply into the scientific aspects of cultivating vegetables, beginning with the concept of food security and advancing through the necessities of light, water, and carbon dioxide for plant health and moving into caring for the plants from the beginning planting to the health and care and through harvest and beyond. Far from a simple guide, it offers an exploration of the reasons behind various gardening methods, including an enlightening section on hydroponics and diverse gardening and greenhouse designs. The book is rich with details on cultivating different vegetable families, transplanting, companion planting, fertilization, soil pH, and other vital gardening knowledge. The narrative guides readers through establishing a garden from the ground up, emphasizing soil quality and enhancement techniques tailored to specific crops. It's a treasure trove of insights for optimizing garden health and productivity. While it provides comprehensive guidance on vegetable groups, it also includes some specific advice for individual vegetable groups.Ideal for those seeking a complete understanding of gardening science, from humidity and soil properties to plant growth and development, this book is a thorough compendium for the dedicated gardener, or someone with an interest who wants to delve into the full experience. It reveals the extensive science that informs successful gardening, offering a wealth of information that underscores the complexity and reward of this fulfilling activity. This book is well written. If there was another edition down the line, it would benefit from more graphical/pictorial explanations (hydroponics and how it works for example), still an excellent book packed cover-to-cover with informative and useful information.⭐️ 1 star - I don't recommend it at all.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, poorly written or bad information.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - Good Book. Not for me. Not the most well written.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Very good book quite, I would recommend and well written.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Book that I totally recommend and could not put down. Well written and a book I would read again
