Want a fancy sports car?Keep looking. Want a well priced mini van with good gas mileage? Found it.
Bought this product to replace a Virtual PFsense and a 16 port web managed tp-link switch. Wanted a 1U solution with a lower total power usage and to consolidate my equipment sprawl that is happening on the shelving above my washer and dryer. This thing is not a Ferrari. It is not an American muscle car. It is a pimped out mini-van with a towing package. It has every feature you could ask for, gets good gas mileage, and is well priced. The interior is not that great, but I guarantee it will run forever and get your family where it needs to go while your kids eat Cheerios in the back seat and watch movies on the DVD player attached to the ceiling (assuming the kids know how to program the DVD player from scratch). As mentioned in other reviews, this thing is like visiting an alien planet if you come from iOS. The firewall rules are extremely clunky compared to the PFsense, but may suitably meet my needs. Though I must say the firewalling rules don't seem to be much more advanced than basic IP tables. That being said I have yet to determine if I will leave this as an edge security device or just use it as a L2 switch. Definitely staying in RouterOS mode, though I did test run SWOS.

A good, solid router/switch
Works flawlessly in switch mode. In router mode, it requires some skill to configure. Everything you'd expect on more up-range routers is available here but the interface does nothing to protect you from it or from yourself. If you're a capable network tech this can be a workhorse. That said, some rules/settings do require enough processing to cause some noticeable slowdowns - as soon as you create a rule or config that requires advanced processing, the unit does lose some throughput for that traffic. That said, it's amazing router for the price.I have no complaints for these as my requirements are quite simple, so I use the RouterOS but only ask of it a little more than a managed switch might do.I'll buy more.

Excellent performance despite unintuitive interface
Interface for this could be a bit more intuitive, but the control is nice. Replaced my cisco meraki router with this. Not sure why I'd ever go back

Excellent upgrade from CRS226 switch
This is now may core switch in my home network. The unit replaced my CRS226 switch. The larger CPU and better switch hardware has made a huge difference. You can reliably implement LACP, perform some inter-vlan routing (heavy stuff sent to mikrotik router) in hardware where the CRS226 was always out of breath.Old news: this switch isn't for non-network people. I have a good understanding of networks, write software for a living, and I still had to go through trial and error to get things working that are easy with Cisco IOS - great example is taking advantage of the new v6.41 bridge for VLANs (close but no cigar yet).

not bad but the rpice seems a little high thew cost morte then my rb3011
love this switch it does what it does. this switch never hits over 29 Celsius.i did out a small 6000 rpm fan in it and it sucks out air at the back.had a little trouble at first the sfp port wouldnt auto link with my mikrotik rb3011 had to set the speed to fix it np then.

Easy to setup with a great price point for performance.
Very easy to initially setup. You can go as far as you want in customizing vlans, subnets and weird world of networking. Plus the price point is unbeatable for what you get.
