Exciting suspense with plenty of twists
The sign of a good series to me is the feeling that I ought to go to bed but I want to watch just ONE more episode! And then I find it difficult to wait until the following day. I enjoyed the first two series very much, and this did not disappoint. The final episode was open ended and left me wondering what would happen. A pity that there was not another series. The plots and red herrings were interwoven very cleverly amongst the Government, big business and serious crime. I have watched most of the Nordic Noir series, and I recognise many of the actors from Borgen, The Bridge, Wallander and Unit One. I am surprised that some viewers gave it only one star, because I thought that it was up to the usual standard. I would have liked some bonus features on these DVDs.

Sarah Lund's 3rd series.
Great cast, well filmed, gripping story, lots of plot twists & turns, the style of which were developed in the 1st 2 excellent series.Sofie is absolutely fabulous as we've come to expect,as is the supporting cast. Without spoiling things, just my view here,I hated the ending.Hated.It's original I suppose,& not at all obvious as the story evolves,,but no,I hated it.

Could Have Been Better.
I've been waiting to watch this third, and I believe final series for a while, finally got around to it, and rather regret it now.I thought 1 & 2 were excellent, and I enjoy watching the original production with subtitles, rather than some awful dubbing, or worse, some awful American remake!Anyway, this one proved to be disappointing, mainly because the ending was just terrible, like some afterthought...I'll say no more as I don't want to spoil it for others. The previous series seemed quite realistic from what I remember, but the murder of the prosecutor in this one was ridiculous. There was a reason that judicial hangings were very carefully performed (one hoped)...get the drop a little to short, and the condemned was left to slowly strangle, the neck failing to break. Get the drop a bit too long, and the condemned literally lost their head. In this series, the prosecutor is pushed from a rooftop, and drops what must be 60 feet, comes to a sudden stop, and is hanging as though Albert Pierrepoint himself had carried it out, and that with a rope which was so thin it would have acted like a cheesewire.Well that's all I'll say on this, a rather disappointing end to a very engaging drama, which in the previous series seemed far better than anything produced in Britain or elsewhere.I'll end on that point actually, to have a murder investigation spread out over so many episodes makes for far better drama. As much as I love our classics like Morse etc, they could have done so much better than having one crime, one episode, which has always been the way with most of them.I wouldn't intend my review to put anyone off watching this, just don't expect it to be quite up to the standard of the first two series, in my humble opinion.

Outstanding
Advance review. Have been hooked to the first 2 series on sky box sets and was gutted to find the 3rd missing from the set. I am perfectly sure this will be just as well received as the first two. The brits have taken this series to their hearts and adore Sarah Lund and her fluffy jumpers. I would love to see a 4th series of this pop up in years to come but as this dvd states its the final series, unless Sophie Grabôl ends up potless (which I doubt as for an untrained actress she's never been out of work) I can't see that happening. Prime shipping meant that its arrived before I've finished the s2 finale. Cheers.

the original scandi-noir, series 3
I somehow had series 2 but couldn't find series 1 and 3 on DVD. The classic series is a keeper, a collector's dream. I don't even need to watch again (though I will).

Marvelous Series
I was introduced to this series by my husband (as I was initially averse to subtitles) but, for those of you with a similar fear, the episodes grip you from the start and the additional concentration required adds to the enjoyment.
