Diameter described is accurate. I'm not using it to deter squirrels instead, to help keep rain off the bird food. Nothing works too keep them dry when the rain comes in sideways ; ) Brown plastic hood appears a good thickness. Stiff and yet flexible. Hanging in the Florida sun will soon determine if the plastic holds up. The metal hook assembly is very well made and sturdy. Screws on tightly and is somewhat adjustable in height as it has a seprate screw you screw onto the lower hook. It actually helps keep the doves off the feeders if I put the hood close to the food. Keeps then from eating everything before the smaller birds can get to the food. So far great product for what I need it to do.

It is flimsy so I plan to add washers on the threaded stem both above and below cover to reinforce it. I wish I could find a sturdy cover larger in diameter.

I purchased this to keep the rain off of my humming bird feeder and it does exactly what I needed it to do. The thing is the first one that was sent to me had a defective eyebolt and I was prepared to return the first one and order another. I reached out to the company to see if I could get a replacement part before returning and they sent another baffle free of charge. Definitely worth the price in both quality and customer service.

Like some others I didn't get the S hook. Even the instructions say there is one but mine came without. Besides the S hook everything else seems to be what I expected. How do I go about getting the hook? I need it for hanging from a tree limb. Please let me know.

Looks good for stopping rain into my bird feeder but squirrels still find a way around it.

A squirrel had a tough time getting around it but eventually did but only after several falls. What is bad about it is that the bird feeder I had attached whirled in the wind and eventually unscrewed it from the hook so everything fell to the ground

Completely ineffective, took the squirrels less than an hour to figure out how to get around them. They appear to he too small and too malleable to do any good.
