Pitbull-tested, Pitbull-mom-approved. Thank goodness.
We are so grateful to have been recommended chlorhexidine shampoo by a friend. The Davis brand is the first we've tried and it is so helpful in reducing irritation and redness on our pitbull's chest, stomach, and groin. We have narrowed down the cause of her irritation to seasonal/environmental allergies, and to stress. When she came to us from the rescue, she was on antibiotics and steroids for dermatitis and bumps on her tummy. They had gone by the time the antibiotics and steroids ran out, but they came back two and three times with a vengeance. I thought it looked like a yeast infection, so I fed her yogurt and applied probiotic topicals. She was itching and sore and exhausted, and we felt awful. Twice the irritation turned into full-blown staph. I was convinced we had a real problem on our hands and was starting to panic. After all, we were already feeding her a grain-free limited-ingredient diet, along with organic yogurt supplements. We would even wipe her down each time she came in from outside with apple cider vinegar, or distilled water. We tried everything.Well I feel like a horrible dog mom, and I want to apologize to sweet Clara, because shampooing with this product just once took the redness and itching away. Twice, and the bumps flattened out. The webbing between her toes was red and itching--we soaked her feet in a water & shampoo solution, and they calmed down right away. Any time a tinge of that redness returns to her sensitive tummy, we cover it in a thin lather and let it sit for ten minutes. Rinse very well, and the next day, right as rain. I don't know why I hadn't heard of this product before. I've been a dog owner on and off my entire life. I am so, so grateful to have discovered this, and I'm preaching it to everyone I know.We haven't used the shampoo in two months and she still doesn't have any problems. We now mix a little in with her regular lavender shampoo she gets washed with once or twice a month. Easy. Smells great. Works great. Thank God.

Used on Pit Bull Mix Breed Shepard | Skin Condition Pyoderma | Skin Allergies
I am done with stuffing antibiotics for 4 weeks at a time bringing his own immune defenses down. Trying natural way with virgin coconut oil and daily shampoo on wash cloth to wash his sores and they are going away and not spreading. Immediate improvement overnight and day by day. The key is to leave it on their skin for 10 minutes to saturate it and try to wash off the scabs without scrubbing too hard (but mine enjoys a good scrub) works best. I highly recommend this product for Pitties with this known skin condition. One bottle lasts me a good month until the sores are all gone. For maintenance, I recommend a good scrub down bath at least 1x a week with this shampoo. If you do not see improvement, please take dog to Vet so they don't get staph infection as they can die if worsens and left untreated.

his skin got much better and the hair began to regrow
My pit bull had some severe allergy issues. He started to lose his hair in patches, especially on his tail and legs, and I tried various products (tea tree oil, oatmeal shampoos, etc.) before I read online resources suggesting this shampoo to treat the condition. The vet suggested it was worth a try. After a couple of weeks using this shampoo every 2-3 days, his skin got much better and the hair began to regrow. The treatment was in combination with other allergy medications that his vet prescribed. While I cannot definitively say this shampoo was the solution, it certainly worked in combination with the other medicines, and when I discontinued the medication and continued to use this shampoo, he did not lose his hair again. Moreover, the shampoo did not dry out his skin despite regular washings and he smelled so good after routine use, so I would recommend on that basis alone if you like your pet clean!

Pretty Good
I wanted this to work better than it did. I used it along with the spray and did not achieve the results we were hoping for in clearing up the bacterial infection on my dog's skin. But I think it's a great product and just not right for what we were dealing with. There was a noticeable difference after using it, it just wasn't quiet strong enough. Switched to malasab.

Worked wonders for my dog!!
I'm extremely happy with this product! My pitbull has constant staph infections which cause bumpy, rough skin & scaly, bald patches all over. Multiple rounds of antibiotics didn't get rid of it last time he had it. A vet recommended trying Chlorehexidine shampoo to be used weekly. After the 1st use I noticed my dog's coat was shinier & healthier looking than before. After the 2nd use the bumps went away & all his bald patches were healing & filling in. That was a few weeks ago & his coat/skin are still in great condition, I just bathed him a 3rd time & will continue to do so regularly. Much cheaper, easier & more effective than daily antibiotics!
