BUFF Reversible Polar

HOT. I work in the arctic circle and I use this to keep my head warm during winter months. I have other Buffs, including the regular Polar Buff, wool Buffs, and synthetic Buffs. This one insulates body heat the best of the bunch but definitely can get too warm if it's not ultra cold out. I recommend keeping a wool buff with you as well if you need something lighter with better breath-ability. For those that are wondering I'll break down the differences between this buff and the regular, non-reversible Polar Buff. The regular Polar Buff is basically two buffs that are sewn together end on end, one end is thick synthetic and the other is thin, making it longer than the Reversible Polar Buff, which is a shorter, uniform tube of thick synthetic material on one side and thin on the other. The length of the regular Polar Buff makes it easier to turn into a balaclava or mask with neck wrap, but the Reversible Polar Buff is easier to get into a legitimately warm and comfortable position as a cap. Plus the Reversible Polar Buff looks better in my opinion. The best pair for ultra cold weather is a wool Buff around your neck (and face when necessary) and a Reversible Polar Buff as a cap.

Looking for a warm buff for cold winter days? The polar buff fits the requirement perfectly but it's proven to be too heavy/warm for cold days of activity tho. If you are an active outdoor person this thing is too warm but if you're needing something to attend cold outdoor events, football games, non-walking hunting, motorcycle riding, etc. the polar buff is awesome! I can't wear it as a neck gaiter while doing chores on any cold day because it's just too warm. Turn it into a beanie and it's ok for light outdoor activities. If you are cold blooded or if you are planning a cold outdoor non active event, this buff is what you are looking for. I really like the color/design, it looks great pattern out or inside out.

I bought this for my 9 mile round-trip bike commute in the winter and now I don't know what I ever did without one of these. I love that you can pull it up over your ears and face to block out the cold and wind. It's amazing how warm it is for being relatively thin. Don't wear this if you don't want to mess up your hair, though, and be careful if you're wearing dangly earrings. You have to yank it pretty forcefully over your head to get it off. It's worth it to stay warm though! I also like that the print is subtle yet funky and matches everything; if I push it down into a loop around my neck, it just looks like a regular infinity scarf.

I highly recommend this polar buff. I tested it out by climbing Telescope Peak in Death Valley in December. When we got to the ridgeline, the wind was roaring. I threw this on and it kept my face completely warm. I was able to breathe perfectly with it on. At times, when exerting myself, it would get too warm and I would have to lower it from my mouth to my neck. Conditions on the top were pretty intense: 45 mph gusts of wind, single digit temperatures, ice and snow blowing into your face. This buff did an excellent job of keeping me warm.

If this product were $10, I'd give it a higher rating. It doesn't feel thicker/warmer than comparable articles, and for $40, this is nothing more than a piece of microfiber tubing with an additional thin layer stitched with it. Ridiculous... Feels flimsy.

I love this thing. It makes my wife embarrassed when I wear it like a normal winter hat because of the extra material hanging off of the back. That makes me like it even more. It is also really warm if you fold it over on itself. It looks like there is a hole in mine where the stitching was supposed to meet up near the tag. Not sure if this was on purpose, but it isn't unraveling so I am not going to return it.

Great product, would have liked more info on which thermal protection level I was purchasing. Mine was the lowest level of thermal protection.
