These are well designed, sturdy, and function well. It is important to get them installed square to the wall and square to each other though - their tolerances don't allow too much mis-alignment - they will pinch and not open/close smoothly. But a little patience and diligence will get things to work nicely.

Installed today on exterior of deck rail ,easy-to-use bought stainless steel to survive the elements. Built the shelf out of treated wood. Will be using for table top grill.

I used them to make 48” wide rolling work tables for my son’s auto wrapping shop… tables were 30” wide but could be extended another 18” by pulling and locking these folding shelf brackets.

Added a 2-foot extension to my mobile table saw using the 16-inch folding shelf brackets, giving me 3-feet of sturdy, reliable support past the saw blade. The folding brackets operate effortlessly to extend the working area when needed and to collapse it for storage. When in use, it makes handling large pieces of wood safe and easy. It's also convenient when sawing multiple smaller pieces.These folding brackets are perfect for my needs.Caveats: 1. The screws that came with the 16-inch brackets seemed too flimsy for my purposes. Not a problem - I replaced them with longer, stronger mounting screws. 2. The vertical arm for the 16-inch brackets has three mounting holes, but only two screws were provided for each vertical arm. The instructions showed only two holes for the vertical arm. Perhaps the screws and instructions provided were meant for either the 10- or 12-inch versions.In any case, these brackets rock!

The collapsible brackets are fully functional and serve their purpose. It was an economical way of pairing these brackets with a shelf I fabricated out of 1"x12"x6' pine wood to create a16" x 36" laundry shelf. The brackets do have sharp edges that should be sanded/filed down for child-proofing purposes. The hardware provided is insufficient for any type of load bearing shelf. I used (3) #10 x 2-1/2" deck screws directly into each stud. Still, these brackets provide a great option if you would want a complete collapsible shelf for under $50
