Very nice hiking boot
I have had these now for a few weeks and they are comfortable, and I love the wide size. They look very nice and so far, they have held up well to some long walks. I will certainly be purchasing more Merrell men's hiking boots and shoes.

happy feet-finally! great fit and performance
all the other hiking shoes and boots i tried didn't have great traction or good insoles for the kind of rugged slippery-rock hiking we have in AZ. even with insoles, my feet would hurt and I'd feel the rocks i was on. these are light on my feet but sure-footed, breathable (my socks were not super-schweaty in 98 degrees), and my feet do not hurt for the first time in ages, even without a break-in. no sign of my plantar fascitis. these have arch support, which help my no-arch flat feet walk correctly. super happy!

Great light hikers right out of the box !
This is a terrific shoe and I see why it was rated so high for mid weight hiking. I wouldn’t put a lot of weight on my back as they do have some give when stepping over rounded or sharp rocks (you might feel through the sole) but terrific support & I weird them for a week at Acadia National park right out the box. Worked for good grip on smooth granite surfaces and rocky ones too. Not very good on the wet mossy surfaces we encountered but most mid level hikers aren’t (-). Get these , they are now a staple in my house and we will use them all the time on our regular hikes at home ! Oh & I didn’t size up. They fit perfectly on my 7.5 size feet , I wear a 7.5 in all my running shoes also . Get the right medium smart wool or wool blend socks and you are good to go !

Typical Merrell quality and comfort
Years ago I was turned on to Merrell hiking shoes by a family member who wore them while hunting in the mountains. Yes, they cost a little more than what I was accustomed to buying, but since that first pair I keep coming back to them for a few reasons.1. Quality. My last pair of Moabs were purchased exactly 4 years and 5 days ago. Yes, they're now worn out (thus the reason for this purchase) but they've been through a LOT and gave me more than my money's worth.2. Consistent sizing. I hate buying clothing/footwear online because it's obviously impossible to verify fitment first. With Merrell I know that a size 9.5 is going to fit me. Period.3. Comfort. Yes, my 4-1/2 year old Moabs are no longer as comfortable as they were when new, but slipping on new set just feels SO good. Good foot support as well as ankle support.4. General good looks. While I don't get hung up on needing the latest fashion, the Moab design just "works" year after year.So yes, my new pair of Moabs feel (and look) awesome, and in a few years it'll be time to come back for another set.

Comfortable and looks good.
I really need good shoes for my job and these fit and feel great. The arch support is great for my back. My only issue is the life span is not great. I don’t know if it’s the shoes or the work I do but I can’t get a year out of them before I have to replace them. If they were just for casual use like hiking I would probably give 5 stars but for the money it’s the best deal i could find and I will continue to buy them

Surprisingly light weight and comfy
These boots are great for a casual hike. I'm not qualified to comment on how they would hold up on mountaineering or very long hikes, but for most people they are a great buy. I got these at a great price and I am very happy with them.Even with the padding, I would recommend using wool socks like "Fits" brand or "Smartwool" - something with at least 70% merino wool. Even in the summer you can wear them because they wick sweat away and are antimicrobial so they won't stink. Definitely a good idea if you are wearing boots for the first time or for a longer hike.Pros:- Surprisingly light weight yet also sturdy- Very comfortable and generous padding on the inside - comfortable even on first wear for 5 mile hike with hills- The grip seems to be quite good. I didn't slip even on muddy and wet rocks while others around me did.- They do seem to be waterproof up to a few inches of puddles. I didn't test them totally submerged up to the top of the boot though.Cons:- They aren't the most fashionable boots, but that makes it easier to get them muddy and not care too much.

Comfortable and Sized and Fit Well
I had two other pairs of these boots over the years, and these seem to be a comparable quality. They are like a cross between a real hiking boot and a sneaker, but much lighter than a heavy-duty hiking boot. They are good for most easy to moderate trails, though sharp rocks will be somewhat noticed through the sole. They are far better than sneakers - cushioning your feet far better - when on urban trails, such as pavement, sidewalks, etc. They are sized well and fit well. Overall a good QPR.

Fit as expected, comfortable, but not squishy, solid footing on loose ground, light weight
This boots are light weight, and fit as expected. I have wide feet, I often have to size up to get shoes that fit. I got these in 11.5 wide. They fit my foot exactly, and because my foot is not crammed up in the toe box, my feet stay a little cooler. It is important to have the boots laced properly, or your foot can slide a little.I find the footing to be solid, even on sandy south FL soil. I hiked some river trails with my child and his scout troop. I had very solid footing, and I was even able to help others, and confidently traverse everything I came across. it is a fairly powerful feeling to be that confident in your footing. I am used to sneakers, so this was a huge upgrade to me.I found these boots comfortable, but with a caveat. These are not crocks or Uggs comfortable. They don't offer a squishy soft ride. These are utility comfortable. They are form fitting to my arch, and they are designed, first and foremost for traction. If you need soft, these are not the droids you're looking for.I really appreciate the breathability, fit, traction, comfort, and over all aesthetic. These are 5 star in my book. I will probably even wear them in settings where all the features are not needed.
