True Blood is the sexy, scary, wildly entertaining drama series from Oscar®- and Emmy®-winning Alan Ball (HBO’s Six Feet Under), and based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, True Blood tells the continuing tale of Sookie (Anna Paquin, Golden Globe-winner for this role), a human waitress with telepathic gifts – and a so-far irresistible attraction to 174-year-old vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). Surrounded by familiar faces – including her brother Jason (Ryan Kwanten), shape-shifting boss Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), soul-searching pal Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley), Tara’s cousin Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis); police chief Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer), vampire suitor Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) and teen vamp Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) – Sookie faces some new otherworldly threats in this season – as if vampires, werewolves, werepanthers and shapeshifters weren’t enough! Review: If you're looking for a series with a great story line and exceptional acting, this one is definitely worth viewing - True Blood is an excellently written series. I have watched it since it began, and recently bought this dvd set for my nephew. It is nothing like the Twilight series, and in my experience, people who really love Twilight usually do not care for this series - again, simply because the two are nothing alike. Some of the main characters here (as well as supporting roles) are vampires, but that's not to say this is a show "about vampires." This series is really best described as being about the people and goings-on of a small, backwoods Louisiana town where some of the people just happen to be vampires. As mentioned above, the writing is excellent. One of the best aspects about this series is that it is definitely NOT predictable! Not in the least. You never know where the writers are going to take you...from one episode to the next, or from one season to the next. The character development, story lines, acting, directing, casting and effects are all first rate. Considering that the series has its fair share of killing (although not overly so, and it's certainly not the focus of the show), the series couldn't be called "dark" or gory by any means. I also would not call this show necessarily "violent" either. (Personally, I don't care for violent shows or movies, and I find this series to be tolerable on the violence scale. It does have killing and blood and bodies and body parts, after all there are vampires in it, but even so, it's done in a way that is not offensive or vulgar.) There is comedy, drama, action and suspense...and very well choreographed cliff-hangers to end each episode. Despite the blood, death and suspense, the series as a whole is well balanced with comedy and other character's story lines which help keep it from being overly dark. There is a quite a bit of nudity - not raunchy, but tasteful and almost artful. So if you're sensitive to nudity, just be forewarned...or simply cover your eyes during those parts, because the story lines and acting make this series well worth watching. I easily give 5-stars to every season. Another refreshing bonus is that the episode commentary for every season is also worth watching. The actors, directors and writers actually contribute thoughtful and interesting tidbits that add to the episodes and the series. It's best to watch the commentary after you've completed the season because sometimes they accidentally reveal things that happen later in that season. This series is well worth purchasing. Review: a true addiction - I subscribe to HBO and have recently started watching true blood. I must say this is the most engrossing and addictive show. I have never before been so connected with a show. I feel as if I know the characters personally, and have developed an emotional attachment to them (my personal favorite is either Eric or Jessica). I am so obsessed that i have finished 4 seasons and 4 episodes of the fifth season in less than two weeks, and would have done so sooner if a storm didn't wipe out my power for 4 days. The fourth season is my favorite thus far. IMO it has the best plot line and the characters really come into their own. I loved what they did with Eric. It gave us a totally new perspective and opened our eyes to his sweeter side. I am loving the fifth season and the episodes cannot come out fast enough. This show is definitely worth watching, and is the only show that I have ever been hooked on, and is the only one I have ever even followed for more than three episodes. I cannot rave enough about this show, all I can say is watch and enjoy. The only thing I don't like about this show is that it makes me yearn to live in a more exciting world like that of the one created in TB. I find myself imaging what my life would be like, and know that I would do everything possible to become a vampire.

How could you NOT enjoy this season!?
I'll never understand so-called "fans" who trash and nit-pick their own show. If you really love True Blood, then there's no way you couldn't love this season. Or all the seasons for that matter. Each one has been different from the last, and I mean that in a good way. Picking a favorite season is like picking a favorite child. I personally have loved all 48 episodes of this series. Not a single bad one in my opinion. The episodes in season 4 are spectacular and it's insane how much happens in each one. Our beloved characters stay true to who they are, and even though they are constantly being tested, they deal with it as best they can. There are so many wonderful things about this season. I particularly liked how we had a plethora of great scenes for Bill/Jessica, Jessica/Jason, Jason/Sookie, Sookie/Eric, Sookie/Alcide, Sookie/Bill, and Sam/Tommy, just to name a few. The actors are truly awe-inspiring, and the writing and direction is always top-notch. One of the themes of this season was transformation. Becoming someone else and dealing with the repercussions, whether it's through posession, amnesia, skinwalking, or werepanthers (LOL at Jason), was definitely an important arc for a majority of the characters. At it's core, True Blood is a character drama. We see their ups and downs, trials and tribulations. It's so easy to relate to them because they're written to incredibly well. This show is nothing short of 5 stars, and has been since it's inception. It's hard to find another show that reaches the same calibre True Blood does with each episode. I look forward to what season 5 has in store for Bon Temps!

THE SUPER BEST SHOW EVER
I love True Blood. It's the best show u can watch. I love the storylines and the twists and turns that keep on coming with cliff hangers. I can;t wait till season 5 comes out its going to be really good. I love Bill being king . It shows Bill's darker side of him that u haven't seen before on the last 3 seasons of the show, I recommoned u all to buy Season 4 of True Blood. U won;t regret buying this season . I know i don;t regret preordering it. And its a good price on Amazon i recommoned u all to buy it on Amazon or Targer or wal-mart or bestbuy. I pick Amazon for one reason good deals on prices. True Blood=True Love for me
I love this TV series. I have not read the books so I cannot compare the two. I am fascinated by this show: it's plots, the characters, and the premise. I believe the actors chosen for the roles have really shaped this show into what it is. This show isn't for children in my opinion. It is not a "Supernatural" level supernatural show. There is cursing, killing, nudity, sex, and a lot of violence. I won't let my 15 year old son watch it but that is MY choice as a parent. As for me, I love most things vampire so this show is right up my alley. Of the 5 seasons, I think Season 4 was my least favorite (too much going on) although I still love it. I feel Season 5 brought it all back around again and Season 4 makes a lot more sense to me after seeing Season 5. I've had friends inquire if they could start with current season and I haven't recommended it to them. I own all the seasons on DVD so I can start them with Season 1 and go from there. Is this a show you could start mid season? Probably not. Is it a show you could begin at the beginning of any season and follow it? Most likely, but if you start at the first season you the viewer will understand all of the who's who, who's related, the character and relationship development which I think is important to this shows success. All of this is IMO of course.

Romantic Horrific
This series of Vamp movies is pretty good. There is a lot of steam and love in between. The end of each episodes keeps you wanting more. There is no way you are going to miss the next episode unless you are tied to a chair in another room. They cover just about every creature that may go bump in the night. If you want witches they are in there. If you want werewolves they'll be baying at the moon. Zombies you bet! I'm waiting for what is next. You will too.

The single most messed up season of True Blood yet but in a good way with a twist at end that makes you go Oh my God
Once again another good almost great season of True Blood but with a few holes here there in the storylines. I don't do spoilers in my reviews and just give a generic outlook of the whole season from my point of view. The main storyline for Season 4 is a witch coven in town and from the first episode to the last it became in my viewpoint the single most messed up season of True Blood but in a good way still entertaining enough to watch and enjoy. The other storyline with Jason and his love intrest was like screaming at the screen like really the writers wrote this down as a storyline. But the season was saved in my view by the vampire Eric and the writers showing a different side of him which you would and will have to buy the Season 4 of True Blood to find out what I mean by that line in my review. In closing if you have watch the show from the start like I have and have enjoy it from the start as I have also then defently buy this season 4 even for the what I call the most powerful twist and shock I never saw coming from the show at the end of the season 4 episode 12 my mouth drop open and I was like oh my God.

A Most Intriguing Season........Quite Fulfilling
Like a good drug, "True Blood" takes me into a world unfamiliar but not forbidding. This season there was more focus on witches which was a deterrent to me. The whole Antonia De Galvin storyline was only soooo interesting. It was heartbreaking to see relationships develop only to see a violent resolve. I hated to see Jason's best friend since grade school witness his heart being broken after being known as a Momma's boy for most of his life. It can sometimes feel like an eternity between seasons. But this season had so many twists and turns, many I hoped never to see again, that I will be glad it is over, sooner than later. With Marnie and Russell being two of my least engaging characters since the series began, I keep turning to the old faithful of Bill vs Sookie, Jason vs Angelique, etc. I wish they would give Sam a more consistent, stronger storyline. He has incredible chemistry with Bill (a sequel to their seductive sensual scenes is in order), Tara (great bootycall buddies), his late brother..... And it was great to see the arrival of Christopher Meloni, only to see him leave almost as quickly as he came. While the other older vampire that "rescued" Christopher from other targeted forces.....

True Blood.
True Blood was a really fun, interesting series to watch. Full of vampires, werewolves, and the leading lady, Sooke, a lady who can read peoples minds. It’s a great drama/fantasy/mystery show, and worth the watch. I loved it and enjoyed every season. Definitely worth binge watching a season at a time. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Enjoy.

Excellent

Good Condition
I prefer these boxed sets because they protect the dvds better, packaging was sleek and undamaged.
