You can see the words when it's black. It does work, but when the cup is cold you can still read it, so I sent it back.

I'm a Trump fan, but bought this as a gift for a friend who despises him. So far, he is very happy with the gift, so I am too.

You can see the words even when the mug isn't hot. It just looks cheesy not nearly as nice as it does on the computer when you see it. Plus when mine arrived the handle was broken and I haven't been able to get any response about being able to even return it so it was a complete waste of money unfortunately.
