Both. The diameter of the tube is open straight through. There is baffling material around the outside of the diameter of the tube. Borla website claims better airflow than a simple straight pipe muffler.

Love the sound!

Awesome low deep rumble. Not loud at idle but wakes up when you put your foot into it. A little louder in the cab down the highway but not bad. Had it in a F150 with the 5.0.

Would reccomend this muffler.

Put this one my 14 chev 1500 with the 5.3 about a month ago. 3rd cat delete and all new 3" piping. Absolutely love the sounds, quieter then I anticipated though.
