First time reading MKA!
It won't be my last time. This was a nice combination of romance, murder and mayhem! I loved the characters. Those gals were strong, capable women. So great to read good dialogue. The murder mystery was an added bonus. I recommend it.

Slow Start Becomes Roller Coaster Ride of Twists and Turns
The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews is a thrilling crime solver that starts off slowly but ultimately manages to captivate the reader with its suspenseful plot. However, the book ends abruptly, leaving the overall reading experience slightly unfulfilled. The novel begins at a leisurely pace, painting a vivid and detailed picture of the characters' lives, their surroundings, and the idyllic small town they reside in. At first, this slow start might deter some readers who are seeking immediate action. However, patience proves to be rewarding as the story gradually gathers momentum. As the plot evolves, the book takes an unexpected turn, thrusting the reader into a roller coaster ride of suspense and intrigue. The crime-solving aspect of the story is particularly well-crafted, with twists and turns that keep the reader guessing and eagerly turning the pages. Andrews skillfully weaves together various subplots and keeps the tension high throughout, making for an engaging and thrilling read.Unfortunately, the book's biggest shortcoming lies in its ending. After an intense and nail-biting journey, the conclusion felt rushed and abrupt. It seemed as though the author tried to tie up loose ends quickly, leaving some questions unanswered and certain plotlines unresolved. This sudden ending left me wanting more, as if the story had cut off before its natural conclusion. While the suspense in The Homewreckers definitely caught me off guard, the ending itself was somewhat predictable. The clues and hints sprinkled throughout the book made it fairly easy to foresee the resolution, which diminished the impact of the final reveal.Overall, The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews is a book that starts slowly but eventually draws the reader in with its suspenseful and enthralling plot. Although the ending is disappointing and the resolution is somewhat predictable, the journey to get there is undeniably thrilling. Fans of crime-solving novels will enjoy the roller coaster ride of twists and turns, but be prepared for an abrupt ending that might leave you craving a more satisfying conclusion.

Love this new book
Back in summer of 2018 I was in a bookstore and a beautiful display of books by author Mary Kay Andrews was on display. I purchased High Tide Club, came home and placed it on my bookshelf, Covid hit in 2020 and finally June of 2022 I realized I had never read the book. OMG, what have I been missing. Ms. Andrews has a unique style in her books, she makes her characters real and you like or dislike them, she has a way of plotting a story that at times will make you laugh or cry. Since June this year, I’ve loved everything I’ve read, the entire Weezie and BeBe series, and now this new book Homewreckers. The story starts with twenty-five year old Hattie Kavanaugh working for Kavanaugh & Son, however, the son, Hattie’s husband has passed away due to a freak motorcycle accident. Hattie has always wanted to make this house special, so going against her father-in-law’s advice of “never love something that can’t love you back” she begins remodeling into a house that is a total money pit. When a Hollywood producer wants to stage a home renovation and Hattie is approached, you know you’re going to enjoy the book. This would make a great new series

Believable characters, twisty-turny intrigue, and romance that you can't help but root for! Mary Kaye Andrews just keeps on out doing herself!
If I had my way I would have Mary Kaye Anderson churn out a new novel every month or so. Of course, then you couldn't have the depth of character that absolutely endears (or outrages) the reader. That kind of writing must surely take time! You also wouldn't have the storyline that grabs your attention from the first page and leads you to unexpected places full of danger and mystery. And of course, you wouldn't have a romance that captures the readers imagination and has them sternly lecturing the star-crossed lovers! So, I will be content to read her novels whenever she is able to release them. Just be warned that each one seems to get even better than the last. Homewreckers is my new favorite!

Drawn Out
Mary Kay Andrews is a wonderful author, I have enjoyed many of her books. The Homewreckers was not one of my favorites. The murder mystery plot within the reality TV storyline carried this book, but even then there were slow and predictable parts. There were numerous events that were also very far fetched as well. Towards the ending, I just wanted to finish in order to wrap up some questions I still had pertaining to the murder and the future of a few main characters. The setting was realistic and Ms. Andrews descriptive writing painted a beautiful picture of this Island. The main character developments were good, personalities were well developed and thought out. This was not a book in which “I couldn’t put down.” It actually took me a week to read it because I often fell asleep at night while doing so. One very specific part I did not appreciate was Hattie purposely breaking a statue of the Virgin Mary. I get the irony Ms. Andrews is using, but felt it could have been done in a more respectable and tasteful way.
