These chairs are nice looking, well made and very sturdy
These chairs are nice looking, well made and very sturdy. We bought 8 to use as dining room chairs. The problem I have with these chairs is that the seat comes unattached to the frame, I was provided screws to attach the seat. First, there are no warning or instructions on how to attach the seat properly. Second, there are no pre-drilled holes so you must line up the seat exactly for each one ( I have 8 )Thirdly, the screws provided were too long, which resulted in a few of them poking through into the top of the seat. Now I have to fill the holes in the seat of the chair and cover the "dings" in the seats of my New chairs. This is a major flaw in my opinion and I feel future buyers should be warned so that they do not make the same mistake. Check your screw length, replace with shorter screws and add a washer for a better, tighter fit.

Sturdy and Good Value
These chair replaced some Eames-style knock-off and Ikea wood chairs in our tiled dine-in kitchen which would frequently slide out from under our guests or were easily tipped over by my son. My main considerations were durability and a desire for heavier chairs. I was looking for hickory schoolhouse chairs, like I had previously seen at Pottery Barn or Lakeshore school supply; however, they were no longer available at the former and approximately $139 each at the latter. When I saw these for approximately $50/chair, I figured I could do much worse and was pleasantly surprised that the powder-coated steel frame is quite sturdy and they seem like they will last a long time, probably longer than the wooden ones I originally wanted. They are heavier but still easy to move around. Their center of gravity is lower than our Ikea chairs because of the steel frame. My wife thinks they look good.My chairs came with appropriate sized screws. The seat is not pre-drilled but I just measured the seat overlap at the front and sides (approximately 3 cm and 0.5 mm, respectively) and used an electric screwdriver drill to fasten them. The steel frame and welds are not perfectly uniform, so it is somewhat tricky. With reasonable care the seats attached just fine, I did 6 in about 2 hours. Even if you are a little bit off, I don't think anyone would notice that the seat is not perfectly centered.UPDATE 4/25/2017: after a few months the wood is still in good condition and wipes clean. The powder-coated metal has not scratched. In short, they are holding up well.UPDATE 5/2019: still going strong. My son spotted the same chairs in a local burger bar - if they can hold up in my house and a restaurant you know they are durable!

Why are the shipping dudes so angry about the wooden seat? Is it beneath them?
I purchased 4 of these separately. The metal portion of all four was flawless. In all cases the metal portion was lovingly wrapped with thin foam paper like it was priceless. Yards and yards of this stuff wound over every inch of the black coated metal. The wooden seat, on the other hand, was apparently tossed in as an afterthought. Not even in a bag, let alone foam or bubble wrap. 3of the 4 were chipped, and 4 of 4 have dents in the side of the wood seats. In my case I was lucky and all the damage is on the back of the seat where it’s unlikely to catch on skin or cloth, so I smoothed them with sandpaper and wood putty.Based on previous reviews I had my own hardware ready to go, and that was a wise choice. None of the seats were predrilled or marked for drilling, etc. I only found 1 pack of screws but who even knows if they were the right length or type of screw. Based on the weird passive aggressive anti-wood-seat vibe I assume the provided screws are sabotage anyhow and tossed them in favor of known and vetted hardware. The chair itself is stupidly comfortable and sturdy. We had about a 30-45 min max in the old chairs (pictured) which creaked and groaned. We sat in the new chairs for 2 hours chatting and didn’t even notice. No back pain later. I’m delighted.

Great chair.... Terrible service / ordeal..
I'm giving 2 stars for this ordeal that I am going thru, not for the chairs! The chairs are great! But when I originally ordered these, I ordered "wooden" sets and was sent vinyl ones! So instead of just sending me the 2 seats that I needed, I had to have the entire order replaced for which the Amazon service rep, stated that the wrong set would be pick up at my resident the next day!!! And of course it wasn't! I get online with Amazon service, and was told that there UPS pick were to be at least a 3 day process... ( which was wrong as well, because I just had a previous UPS return picked up, and it was indeed the next day!! Anyways, the wrong set is still here, 1-15-21, 9:01 pm CST... but it was suppose to be picked up today ( 3 days later ) !!!! So I get the feeling either I am going to somehow, have to fit this huge box into my small car, and drop it off at a UPS site, or get stuck with it and get charged double.... Funny, I thought if I liked these , that I would order another set to complete a set of 4.. And I will, but I won't be ordering them from Amazon, I will get them thru Walmart, same chair, a bit pricier, but at least I won't be constantly misled ed and lied to.... Especially when it was Amazon fault all along...

Good with a couple of minor issues
For the money these chairs are great. They're very sturdy and look good. I knew in advance that they're not particularly large chairs, and for our dining room, that's a good thing. I can get six of them comfortably around a fairly small oval-shaped table. It is potentially problematic that you have to manually eyeball the seat when you put it on. Also, there were no instructions, and no hardware provided for attaching the seats. The result is I had to run to the local hardware store for the screws to install the seats and each chair has a small plastic mounting piece that I frankly don't know if it needs to be installed with the seat or not. I didn't install it on one of them, and I did install it on the other 5 of them, and I see no practical difference using them or not. Overall, these two negatives are a nuisance, and not a significant problem.

Love the chairs
Love the chairs. They match what I already have in the black metal and I need them for extra seating at my dining room table. My complaint would be in the shipping - I am a Prime member and expected delivery faster than the 15 days it took to get them. These chairs also came without the screws (8 of them) to attach the seat to the frame. However, the seller gave me a discount and all is good. I would purchase these chairs again.
