Plexiglass isn’t foggy; just take the film off!
I saw some reviews w/ mentions of “foggy” or “opaque” plexiglass.I suspect these folks DIDN’T REMOVE THE FILM!!!There is film on BOTH SIDES.And it’s really well applied so there’s nothing to really tell you it’s there aside from the feeling. (It feels like a film, not smooth plexiglass. No mention of the film in the instructions either.I was in all out dread mode when I realized how much assembly was required (think flat pack furniture). I am the worst at assembly! But the directions were clear and I was able to get it done in good time. Good build quality and value for money. It’s all plastic so good ease of cleaning.Overall, I definitely recommend. Works as advertised!

Don't trust the thermostat
Noticed my babychicks were 'panting' so my boyfriend put his thermostat inside. It's over 100 degrees inside the brooder, yet the built in thermostat says it's 10 degrees lower at a 'comfortable' temperature. That is very dangerous for novice owners that wouldn't recognize the issue/ know how to fix it.Other than that- the instructions are easy. The kit is small, but works for a small batch. I'm using the box it came in as additional insulation because it fits inside perfectly. I do enjoy the dimmer temperature control feature.

Not convenient
First as everything is, it was assembly required. It’s not a bad quality but it’s not convenient. The control knob is very temperamental and hard to adjust to precise temperatures. Also, the knob easily moves and if it gets bumped it can adjust the temperature without any one knowing and could harm the birds that need precision temperature control.Furthermore, the temperature display does not light up. This makes it very difficult to read thr display when the light inside the brood box is shining brighter out through the window. It’s really not worth the money, nor is it functional. It’s definitely not very safe.

Smaller than I expected
This chick brooder arrived completely disassembled with a sheet of partial assembly instructions. I say partial because it's missing instructions on how to assemble the acrylic lid (but it's easy to figure out). The pieces are made out of CNC'ed 1/2" thick high density foam boards, the same ones you might find in any craft store. So the quality of its composition does not justify the price of this unit, in my opinion. Once fully assembled, the brooder definitely is smaller than I expected, barely have enough space for the smallest chick waterer I could find. For the feeder, you'll need to use an empty jar lid, because even the smallest chick feeder I could find will either be too tall and leave the lid ajar, or take up 50% of the space with the chick waterer. At most, this brooder is good for two, absolute maximum of four chicken chicks. The digital thermometer reads about 15°-20° off, so you will need to add a regular thermometer inside the brooder if you want to keep track of the temperature. The brooder includes two bulbs with a functional dimmer that act as a temperature control. Since I don't plan to house our 4 black Australorp chicks longer than 5-6 weeks in this brooder, it will suffice for the mean time, despite its small size. It's perfect for quail chicks, though.

Easy Assembly and Functional
I just adore how easy it was to assemble. Everything included and instructions included in case they were needed.

Great for my button quail!
The media could not be loaded. I adore this Small but cute little brooder box! The light is a bit hot so it is key to keep a keen eye on your temperature especially directly beneath the lamp. While it might read 83.8 on the temperature gage. It is also around 95 directly beneath the lamp. I believe this has to do with a lack of ventilation so I will be installing a fan and intend on updateing if this helps to keep the entire brooder at a more consistent temperature throughout. Open with caution as the edge's of the brooder lid are a tad sharp and my toddler had scratched himself on it within the first day we had it.. I simply recommend covering those corners and will likely be doing so myself. Over all I recommend this product as it is exactly as described and what I was looking for. Sturdy enough that my cat can sit atop as well. (Could definitely be opened by a cat but thankfully mine is harmless and has no interest in doing so). Perfect for button quail babies! I had a larger brooder set up as I was hatching a large number of button quail but when only one of my eggs hatched out my brooder was just a bit big so I overnighted this smaller brooder and it has been lovely! I'm only rating 4 stars as it is a bit on the small side so it is not a great choice for a variety of larger game birds like ducklings or chicken ect. Also because the light is almost like a hazard really have to watch that temperature.

Did not come as advertised
The front panel came OPAQUE NOT CLEAR. That is a big issue I have had with several other brooders I've ordered and had to return from Amazon recently. The only reason I didn't return this one was because the top panel was clear so you can still check on the chicks if you walk over and look into it, still not ideal but workable. It is very small but will hold its purpose for me for a few weeks. Photos shows 2 day old bantam chicks, they will probably out grow this brooder by 2 weeks old. Also don't turn the heat all the way up!!!! It gets way too hot and you will cook your chicks! I had to use a second thermometer on the floor of the brooder directly under the bulb to calibrate it to around 99 degrees as the thermometer on the front reads lower than the floor temp. This design is also going to be hard to clean in between hatches, but at least it's plastic so you can just remove the heat lamp and thermometer and bleach it. Figuring out how to dump the shavings out without unscrewing everything will be annoying though.
