Best for the money
For the money, you can't beat this. On May 2 I realized I needed a lightsaber for work on May the 4th. I didn't have time to get Star Wars costume. The light and sound effects were surprisingly good! If I could I would give this 4.5 stars. The only reason it isn't a full 5 star product is that the extension and retraction sticks. Otherwise it is great. The two can be connected for one long double ended light saber, but that wasn't what I wanted. Easy to install the batteries. This is good for adults and kids.

Flimsy
It didn’t last long because it broke quickly.

Seems very durable, looks fairly cheap, sounds really terrible, priced well
The media could not be loaded. So I’ll start with the worst part, the sound effects. They really are quite bad and will get on your nerves super fast. The initial start-up sound itself is just fine, despite the speaker quality being very low, but it’s the strange ambient background noises that are just plain terrible. On top of the expected ‘blade hum’, there’s some strange ‘space sci-fi’ type sounds in the background. Bleeps and beeps that just feel very out of place and don’t sound good at all. My kid even hates those extra sounds! The blade hum itself is OK for the price point though. Oh and the ambient sounds are highly repetitious in a short span. Then there’s the extremely sensitive motion activated effects. It really just constantly makes the ‘clashing blade’ noises with the slightest motion or impact. Which for a lot of kids I’m sure that’s an absolute joy. For anyone else, it’s going to get old fast. My kid is annoyed by it, but she’s also used to being around true prop grade sabers, so there’s probably bias.We also are not really liking the mode change options as you cannot just pick a color without sound! There’s picking a color with all the sounds, picking a color with clashing sounds, but nope you can’t pick a color with silence. That’s a pretty big oversight in my opinion. Otherwise, there’s a good selection of colors, despite the appearance of the blade being pretty poor, but what do you expect for the price, right?!Now the best part of these sabers is the price of course. But with that price I expected durability to be really sub-par. Wow, was I wrong! So far they’ve taken quite a bit of beating against each other and some mild wood furniture impacts. Even the coupler to make a single dual blade seems fairly robust considering. It would be nicer to have a bit better feeling material for the hilt/grip, but again the price point is what it is. We haven’t exactly been unnecessarily rough with them or anything, but they’ve been dropped/flung on carpet (and linoleum) and smashed into each other pretty solidly. I’ve not used full adult strength, but my kid hasn’t used full 10 year old kid strength yet either.Battery install is easy enough and I’d be happy to see a company that makes it an option to use or discard the legally mandated screw for the cover/door. Some companies cheap out on the designs and make it such that the door can only be kept closed with the screw, which I hate as an adult who does not have kids young enough to worry about opening compartments and eating batteries or some such. So kudos to the designers of an inexpensive product for that one. But, without the screw it doesn't hold the batteries in place well and the door opens a bit with the possibility that it comes off completely. So in the end you need the dang screw!Overall, for the price they’ll provide a lot of fun for kiddos. And maybe a bit of fun, on silent, for the older crowd.

Small but fun
These light sabers aren't as long as the name-brand versions, but they're good for smaller hands. It wasn't easy to get them to stay together when you hooked them end to end, but once that was figured out, it was fun to swing the double-sided sword around. The lightsabers themselves light up in all kinds of colors which can be changed either by pushing the Mode button or by setting it to "swing" mode, where the color would change with every swing of the sword. Most of the modes had noise and music playing, but there was one mode that had no music and one mode that was fully muted and just had the colors.

Inexpensive sabers that will make you smile
I recently ordered the light sabers for myself to be more active while having fun. The sabers arrived quickly. These are lightweight plastic with a black handle and grey tubing. The handle would be nicer if there was some kind of soft silicone or rubber. The tubing extends and retracts as intended. There is a bit of a smell but not too pungent. The sounds effects are, well, lacking and unlike the movie you hope it mimics. Thank goodness for mute. The colors change sporadically with blue and green as the ones you see most. The two sabers connected well and looked pretty cool when lit. At $14, I feel it's a fair price. I tested the sabers out with a partner and we both had a good laugh while "saber fighting".

Nice, medium duty light sabers!
I have 2 sons that love to goof off playing Star Wars games. I got these light sabers for them to use. The absolutely loved going around the house playing with them. The lights are very bright and the sounds are sharp on these sabers. They seem to hold up well to light to medium play, but can be damaged with heavy, harder use. They seem pretty realistic too! Definitely a great buy for the price!

So fun
These are so fun to play with. They change colors and make star wars sounds. They expand when thrown outward. They require battery that are not included.

Durable light sabers
These light sabers look fairly cheap, but they are actually quite durable! They hold up well to clashing, hitting, and the occasional smack on something else not intended to be hit. The sound effects could use some work, as there are a lot of odd “space noises” that aren’t typical with this kind of saber. There is a blade hum when turned on, and the clashing sound (which occurs even when not being struck against each other), but other sounds added after that is odd. The sound is also super loud, with no way to lower the volume, unless you hit the “mute” located just under the off/on button, but you can still kind of hear the sounds (at least there is that). The handle isn’t super comfortable as it is plastic, but most kids won’t mind. I’m planning on adding a thin piece of leather material to help with this. I’d enjoy a more expensive and authentic looking set, but these are really great for the price point, and would make a great gift for the kiddos.
