Great storyline with wonderful characters that make up this unique and loving family.
This is one of those novella's one wishes could have been a full length novel and explored in more detail. However as a novella, it was great and I loved Gris and Violet's complicated romantic journey and hope to get a cameo appearance of their life with Rose sometime in the future.

Safe Haven
Great story wonderful story line. Great characters. Who come to life in these pages.A love story for all time. It's a page turner to the very end. Where roughness, becomes, softness, and strangers become friends.❤️

It was good
I for one had to get past the bad language, not my thing and the sexual scenes I skipped entirely, not something I want to read about. So, other than those things it was a good story.

Looks can be deceiving
Gris may look huge and scary with a scowl, but as soon as he held the little infant left on his doorstep, his heart melted. Also, once he met the damsel in distress hired to care for the infant, his wonderful inner character to help and protect those in need kicked in again, and his heart melted. Gris was NO beast. He was a teddy bear inside that was just waiting for those in need of his protection to show up and allow him to love and help them. He is every woman's dream of a knight in shining armour - but not arrogant with just the right touch of insecurity that allows the woman to complete him. I loved this story.

ANOTHER GOOD ONE
I loved this Smith brother too. Gris was strong, sweet, and extremely protective even though he didn’t know it. Violet was sweet but left in a bad situation by a gambling father. She had to find a job to help pay her father’s debts, but she found much more. She found a family of her own and the love of her life. After a few dangerous encounters from others, they finally found their happily ever after.

complex problems rational hero and heroine
Tammy Andresen writes concise stories with series wide arcs but also individual stories in each well crafted book. They are easy to read, very enjoyable romances, with emotionally complex heroes and heroines. Gris has daddy issues like the rest of his brothers and self worth concerns. Violet’s father left her penniless and at the mercy of corrupt men who she’s attempted to hide from. And then there’s the illegitimate baby girl that Gris is responsible for. This story ties up all their loose ends neatly and kindly. It’s a happy ending. And oh those Smith brothers! I have a question is the Duke of Upton and Anna destined for each other?

A great read
I enjoyed reading about Gris and Violet, how they met to how they fell in love. He woke up to the crying of a baby that had been dropped off on his doorstep. His new sister-in-law new of a woman looking for job so she wrote to Violet and she came that same day and was hired because she quieted baby Rose and she brought the feeling of home. In the end everything worked out. I highly recommend this book! 👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤

Grumpy/sunshine + baby
A baby brings this unlikely couple together. There is danger lurking around the corner for both Gris and Violet. An interesting read, not quite what I was expecting but enjoyable nonetheless . I found it ended rather abruptly, which was a shame.I loved the side characters, Mrs Grey, the wet nurse, Mrs Mable, the cook and of course Fulton, his brother, who’s a little rough around the edges but is a softy at heart.

Very good
I'm in love with Gris. A man willing to take on a baby he isn't certain is his and see to its every need, is a keeper. I love how Violet comes into the picture and quickly and efficiently deduced the problem and solved it. I just loved the way the two interact with each other. The flow was nice but I did feel like the pace was a bit rushed in spots. I would prefer if it were a bit longer. Other than that, very good story.

A quick read
It's a shorter story, so not a lot of time for character or plot development. I don't think I'd purchase another novel by this author.
