Must read for any INTP
I have yet to find any book that has even come close to the incredible amount of information provided here. Like other INTPs have said, its almost scary how much Dr. Drenth seems to know about you. Things you thought only you knew as well as things you do subconsciously without even realizing come to light in the straight forward no nonsense book. This is a must read for INTP personality types. That is my final verdict, though I'll elaborate a bit further for those who care to hear more.I read a few short books I found on Amazon before coming across this one that were honestly pretty disappointing. The overviews were vague, the descriptions were pointlessly short and almost felt like a horoscope rather than anything helpful. Then came the book you're looking at.All I could say was WOW. I was pretty cynical about what I'd learn, even a bit about the Myers Briggs in general. The level of detail about our personality described in this book is incredible. Of course, everyone is a different and individual person. We were all raised in different ways and have different preferences. That said, at least 90% of this book was dead on. The way that he logically describes how the INTP processes information, what they look for in a mate, what careers they may be tempted to follow but eventually hate and which ones they would most likely actually enjoy. It was amazing. There is also a section about how INTP pair with other types romantically, but it also helps as well with friendships to an extent. I have an INTP brother-in-law that was afraid to read this book in fear that it would influence the way he made decisions and they'd become less genuine. Hopefully you guys are not so simpleminded that you think a book about your personality would somehow destroy your individuality. This book will not brainwash you into following what it says, it simply points out things about yourself that already exist, you don't learn about yourself so much as realize things about yourself that you may have been doing subconsciously. The book is worth every penny. My sister read it to learn more about her husband and loved it, she was extremely disappointed that there was nothing this in depth for her ENFJ personality type. This book is written by an INTP, it does not waste time with pointless metaphors and goofy stories, it gets straight to the point while remaining very entertaining and informational. I'm not sure if anyone else has read one written by someone who is not an INTP but it can be boring and honestly degrading the way the author describes us.TL;DRIf you are an INTP, buy and read this immediately. There is nothing else this good by any other author.

I feel seen.
Just finished this in 2 days. Quick, easy read. I'll write my review in terms of how much he discusses the INTP functions: Ti, Ne, Si, Fe (backwards to forwards)*Fe*While some reviewers took issue with the degree to which the author discusses Fe (Extraverted Feeling), I found it helpful. Growing up with two very extroverted females in my household (both of whom have a dominate function of Fe) I was forced to develop this function maybe sooner and more deeply than other INTPs. So ironically, because the author talks so much about it, I was able to see how relying on Fe too much has caused me to doubt and repress to some extent my actual dominate Ti function (can't speak the truth (Ti) if you're trying to keep the peace (Fe)!). So the result is I feel my Fe exhaustion is now super validated, and that I don't have to rely on it *so much* anymore. In fact, I should *not* rely on it so much anymore, but only to a more appropriate extent. And now I feel allowed to just BE MYSELF. What sweet relief!*Si*I wish he had talked more about Si (Introverted Sensing). Like other INTPs I don't recognize my emotions easily, but I do recognize bodily sensations. For me, this manifests in thinking that something is "wrong" with me when I feel a sensation, when really I'm just not connecting my sensations to the emotions causing them. I spent a LOT of time in my youth going to the doctor because of this. Funny not funny. I would love to understand Si more though, both from a somatic perspective but also how Si can trap INTPs into routines, which we actually apparently hate! I thought I read somewhere once about a Ne-Si loop, or a Ti-Ne-Si loop or some such thing. I want to understand more about these loops and how to get out of them. How do you reconcile Si (wanting things to stay the same) with Ne (imagining a hundred possibilities and wanting to explore them all!)???*Ne*I thought the overall discussion of Ne (Extraverted Intuition) was good. I really struggled previously to grasp what Ne or just "N" (Intuition) was at all, and I still find it a bit elusive, but I DO understand now how it affects an INTP now, and quite honestly, I think this is my favorite function in the INTP stack! I LOVE my ability to think about things from 873 angles and perspectives. It can make it extremely difficult for me to settle on something, but I feel like it makes me very grounded, down-to-earth, and oddly, kind of empathetic to different perspectives, even if I don't agree with them. I think it makes me a good mediator. And I like that about myself. I'm open and not dogged in (most of) my beliefs.*Ti*Hmm... I wonder if the author did enough to discuss Ti (Introverted Thinking), our dominate function. I mostly got out of the book that we think a lot (duh!), that we try to distill things down into theories, and that we are VERY GOOD at noticing illogic and a lack of reason (also duh!). I love this about myself (now that I'm becoming more familiar with it), but unfortunately, others do not :( It is not a good party trick. LOL. It is not well-received by those Fe-dom females I mentioned earlier, and it does not go down so well when I'm trying to offer people advice or listen to someone's feelings. It is for solving problems, not for empathizing. And this is a massive struggle for me, and other INTPs I presume, because this is how we know how to help, but it is not usually what people want. So I would have liked to hear more about that. Or maybe not. Maybe it would have just been too depressing! To finish, I'm obviously leaving a ton out, but these were the things that stood out to me. Mostly, I was just writing "Yes!" a lot in the margins. Looking forward now to reading the author's other book, the INTP Quest!
