My first impression - just out of the box
Knife is well made, solid and it is a real Damascus, not fake. It is very sharp and hopefully will keep the edge well, if the steel in the core is as advertised. Some people write critical comments because it is made in China, this is clearly stated on the box. However, it is time to realise that high quality goods made in PRC are now at least as good as those made in the West, and often they are actually better, but cheaper. And it looks spectacular, no thrills but solid. It is a good size working knife for smallish jobs, like dissecting meat or trimming veg, perhaps one of the most used sizes in everyday life.I have full confidence in this product.

Not what it says on the tin…..
Packaging you can’t complain about, but spidey sense gets full tingle when you see the rather large white label of ‘Made in China’ staring at you.Opening up you are greated with a very shiny knife that looks like the picture in shape only. Writing is dark I suppose, but the ‘Damascus’ lines are nowhere near dark, in fact they look as if they have been laser etched onto the blade.Haven’t tested it for sharpness as yet, so can’t comment on that, but will update when I have some news.Did think of sending it back, but decided to experiment. Have attacked the surface with a Kho diamond scouring pad and have immersed the knife into a cold coffee solution to see if it is indeed a true layered DamascusUPDATE 29 Feb 2024-Well, coffee didn’t work, but that may be down to the strength of it and also the steel used for the knifeHave updated pics to show what the knife looks like after some hand sanding with 240 grit and WD40. As you can see and I stand corrected, this is indeed a Damascus knife. The WD did start to show a contrast between layers, but have some muriatic acid on the way to try and etch with thatUPDATE 07 Mar 2024 - Well after some hand sanding and a soak for 12 hours in 8% sulphuric acid drain cleaner solution, I have managed to get a relatively decent pattern, as seen in the last 2 pictures. Have upped the rating to 3 after this. Feel that as being sold as a Damascus knife this is what you expect to see when you open the boxSuppose you get what you pay for in the end

Fully Securely Boxed Quality Carving Knife
This carving knife has a really good weight to it.It looks and feels good quality, and the blade has a pattern running from the handle to the tip, which can only be seen on a certain angle. The main reason for ordering this carving knife, was, my partner cooks a roast Sunday dinner for our family on most Sundays, and was using a bread knife when slicing the meat. This made an absolute mess.I ordered this for him, as it should be easier to slice meat with. This carving knife has a curved edge with a pointed tip, its curved edge does make it easier to slice through meat, and does make it more presentable.

This knife is very sharp and looks very good.
I like the design and sharpness of this knife. Time will tell how well this knife will maintain that sharpness. This knife feels good to hold and use. I would have preferred it to be slightly lighter, but I like it anyway. It seems good value for money.

MADE IN CHINA
The description is misleading. The knives are inferior quality. The knives are described as Japanese - the label on the box states 'Made in China". If the seller had made this clear in the description, I would not have purchased.
