Worked perfect for my needs
I bought this to make myself a magnetic chuck on a homemade surface grinder. Works like a charm.

cheap product
We purchased two 1200 pound maglocks and we installed them (1) worked but was very slow to operate (1) would not work. Contacted seller and they said they would send a new one out and I could return the bad one. Never received the replacement. Said it was lost in shipping. They never sent another one. The one that was working stopped after 2 weeks. Had to purchase two more from a different company.

After a failure!
If you get a power spike or whatever, you can wire around the "potted" electronics by cutting wire off as close to pot as possible, only have about 1 1/2" left. ......... remove pot, mounted with double sided tape. If using 12 volts, hook red and yellow wire from magnet together and hook positive (+) to them. Hook white and black wires together and connect to negative (-). You no longer have over voltage or over heat protection by will work fine. Put a low amp in line fuse on the positive side for protection if ever shorted out. It's like most Chinese products, they are 100% fully assembled "kits". Meaning you have to take them apart and rework them to make them function properly.

Works great but proper installation is crucial
Overall, I am happy with this lock unit. I am using it as part of my home made security system to lock my workshop door. I am controlling it with a relay controlled by an Arduino. It is very heavy and requires a mounting scheme that allows the plate and magnet to lay flat against each other when the door is closed in order to work properly. It really took me a while to get this part worked out and it's crucial to getting the full strength out of the magnet. However, it is made a little easier by a set screw in the plate that can be used to adjust for minor misalignment. My unit used about .5 amps at 12VDC which is much lower than I expected and was a pleasant surprise. I have no way of testing the actual pull strength required to separate it but it is more than sufficient for my application. The magnet stays slightly magnetic even after the power is removed which is great for me since I don't have a door latch. However, it's easy to open the door and separate them in this state.Overall, I'm very happy with this item. It is very heavy duty and I think it would be very difficult to get past this lock without making a lot of noise. I recommend this for anyone working on an Arduino based door lock.

Electro Magnetic Door switch with 600 Lb hold.
This is a security door switch that keeps the door locked until the magnetic energy is dropped by pushing a switch like the Exit at Walmart Auto Centers. The 600Lb holding force makes it impossible to open the door without a system setup so understand you'll need a system that goes with this to make it work in your application. We have a key pad that you punch in a code for the Magnet to release for 10 seconds so you can enter the door.

If I could give it zero stars I would.
We replaced the existing front door mag lock with this item. It turned on and seemed to work, then left the store location. Within an hour we received calls the door wasn't working, so we went back to analyze the lock. The voltages on my control wire are good, but the device won't turn on. Internal electronics are all potted which makes it impossible to trouble shoot or see what's causing the issue. We weren't able to install the unit until we were outside the return window, so we're simply stuck.

Super strong lock
This will require some installation. A few holes drilled & a ladder and so forth. But it comes with great instructions & should be no big problem for most folks that are good with some power tools and basic wiring & so forth. Just follow the diagrams. There are quite a few instructional vids up across the net for these installs that can help you too.All the screws & parts needed are included.Once up, with a 1200 pound rating, this thing will make your door super strong, secure & safer.Good product here
