These appear to be decently made (robust might be the word) but what I want to explain is the SIMPLICITY of installing them. I've used a broom handle to hold the hood up for the past year, always hoping it wouldn't slip out and have the hood smash my head. Bought these just a couple weeks ago. This morning was installation day. I watched a you tube video or two which were only slightly helpful (bad camera work) and learned there are (2) clips that need to be removed from the old supports. 1st I moved the truck to under the edge of a car port which has a few screw eyes underneath, tied a light rope to the screw eye, raised the hood and tied the other end to the round-rod shaped lever used to release the final latch on the hood. Safety first. Pulled to hod up as high as it would go.That being done, I removed the clips with a small flat blade screwdriver tip. Easily done. Just "bump" the old end off one of the attachment locations, pops off with ease, do the same with the other end. Then, with the new support (leave the clips preinstalled ON, NO need to removed them,( center the opening that goes over the "ball" on the hood and side-lower location, and pull them onto the ball. Done. Maybe a 10 minute job if I wasn't so careful. DO NOT PAY ANYONE TO INSTALL THESE un;less you have one arm, or the IQ of kitty litter! I HIGHLY recommend this product.

Installed these into the hood of my 2004 RAM 1500 with no issue. All you need is a flat head screwdriver to pop out the old hood lifts and a friend to hold the hood up for you. Takes all of about 10 minutes to complete, and I recommend a second person to hold the hood over a broomstick so they can adjust the hood as needed...makes it much easier to find the right length to pop the ball joint into the hood lift.I'm so happy with these things. I no longer have to manually push the hood up and hope it stays. Now once you pop the hood latch and barely lift up, these things do the rest of the work of pushing and holding the hood up for you. Highly recommend if your current lifts are starting to give out.

I installed these this afternoon. They are nice looking and work great once on. The instructions on the package were a little unclear as to whether you needed to remove the clips before installing (you don't). I also thought that you should be able to compress them before putting them in but they wouldn't budge so I installed one anyway, just to test. Sure enough, they worked perfectly! Good product and works great!

They sent 4 instead of 2. I wanted a set, but got warned that may vehicle needs two of these. So I ordered another one and I was right, they come as a set of 2 and not 1.
