Q: Does one really need a case for this mouse? Wouldn't it be fine just uncovered in a regular bag?

Fundamentally this device would be fine in a bag uncovered. I personally got the case due to the wheel lock function. I would be concerned that this mechanism would become damaged. In addition I get bothered by cosmetic blemishes on my devices. They pick these blemishes up rapidly uncovered and in a bag. Finally I find it useful for the USB dongle. It gives me a place to put it even though I really don’t need to use it that often.

Q: Does the case have a spot for the usb dongle that comes with the mouse?

No it does not, there is space in front of the thumb area but not a holder.

Q: will this actually fit an MX 3 don't see one pictured in any of the reviews?

No it will not. I just bought one for my mx master 3 and it does not zip without crushing the mouse.

Q: Can i use this case for mx master 3?

I dont own the MX3 but with a difference of 0.2" from MX2 i believe it should fit more snuggly.
