They shrink and lose nice sharp rectangular shape when washed. Not even the hottest iron can re-form them. I now just use for casual everyday dinners with my little kids.

I washed the mats as instructed (or as I could best possibly derive from the ambiguous icons on the tag) and now the corners won't stay down. In other words, they point towards the ceiling. Regardless of the heavy objects put on top or the time I apply them, the corners refuse to go down. Don't waste your time like I did. Just go to Bed Bath and Beyond.

These are very nice and tie in perfectly with the area rug I have them displayed in my kitchen. If you like a southwest flare, you should consider this product....good quality and product is as pictured...

I love the colors ! Not totally happy with the way the placemats curl on the corners. Seems they could"ve given more consideration to making the mats lay flat. I am afraid to wash them because I have the feeling they may never lay flat.
