Mr Magoo's Christmas Carol [DVD] [1962]

Mr Magoo as Scrooge
I really enjoyed this film and think that it makes an excellent introduction to the story for young children. In the opening credits it states - Freely adapted from Dickins' "A Christmas Carol". However this is quite a faithful version of the Christmas classic.Mr Magoo plays the part of Ebenezer Scrooge at the local theatre. As such you only see the 'normal' Mr Magoo for a few minutes. It's a musical version but there are actually only four songs played. There's a real charm to the cartoon - made in 1966, sometimes the old ones are the best!

Reminds me of childhood
What a pleasure to watch this again after so long - and before I give to my nephew for Christmas - my childhood cane flooding back

Charming
A quaint period piece. In spite of its date - circa 1962 - it’s a low-tech cartoon, but it tells a charming tale with brevity.

Fun, & at a price that Scrooge would approve of!
This was my first introduction to this classic Dickens story, It's reasonably faithful to the book, & apart from the happy memories it evokes it cost next to nothing. I can't ask for more than that!

love this one
My first introduction to Charles Dickens in the 60s. I love this one. I played it for my 23 and 19 year old daughters (twins) and their boyfriends and they all got a little teary eyed.
