Simple, efficient, powerful, and it even looks good.
Our house has a extension added downstairs, but they did not do a good job when extending the central heating. As a result, the large 'sun room' can get very cold. While the landlord, a retired plumber, keeps trying to improve the efficiency of the system, I decided to buy one of these to ensure we have an independent source of warmth. Previously we used oil-filled radiators and electric fan heaters. The oil radiators (11-fin size) take too long to work and do not heat up the space very efficiently. The electric fan heater works well, but it's noisy. My grandmother had a gas heater like this one (only ugly brown/grey) in their village house, and I remember always being warm there, so I bought this. It's well built. Yes, the metal is not thick, it's only there to provide a frame where the gas tank and heater elements can be mounted, but it's well made. It's easy and smooth to roll around and the castor wheels can easily be replaced with one of many alternatives out there should they fail in the future. Easy operation, and it heats up the space quickly and quietly. I would typically switch it on at max (position 3) for 5 minutes while teh room warms up, and then bring it down to position 1. There is a little smell when using it for the first time, while the ceramic elements get 'seasoned' but that goes away soon and it's not strong anyway. That is normal for these systems. It appears to contain a couple of safety functions, including an automatic switch-off if the gas burning is not efficient and produces too much CO. I don't want to rely on it, so I bought a stand alone CO detector that I will always use in the same room the heater is being used. It'll probably never be triggered and it may be a bit paranoid, but CO fumes are a serious hazard and what's another £15 for some peace of mind?Unlike the gas heater my grandmother used to have, the casing on this one does not get too warm to the touch. Only the front top gets quite hot, as you'd expect. Our cat was very curious about it at first, but because only the front gets hot, and the heat it emits is very strong, she would never get too close to the flames (yes, there's a protective grille but I would not like to rely on that alone). Still, like with any open flames, I would not use this and leave it unattended, just in case. But that's just general common sense usage rules for any such device.Highly recommended. Do you need a quick, efficient and quiet source of heat that will not cost too much to run? You could do a lot worse than this.

The Progen gas heater.
The very thin metal used for this appliance and the assembly screws etc,are of very poor quality. The result is a very Flimsay,Wabbely, heater. The 3 back roller/castors have twisted in the thin metal base, This is after only a few weeks of use. I have complained to the supplier, today they not resolved the Serious and Dangerous Problem with this gas heater.

Mobile gas heater
Heater looks smart and is now solid. This heater would be very difficult if not impossible to assemble without home tool kit. The bolt holesat the sides did not match up the bolts did not fit.Had to drill out the holes and fit bolts. from tool kit. The 3 casters the back had no nuts to attach to base again found suitable in my tool kitThe spanner supplied with heater did not fit, again back to tool kit Heater once assembled is excellent gives off good heat and looks excellent Even with initial difficulties I can only say on looks and performance j am pleased with the heater and have no regrets with the purchase

Perfect for our Cabin
This came before it was scheduled to and was well packaged, although you do initially wonder if it is all there as it is very compact. The instructions on how to put it together are very poor but, you can work it out although this does take more time. I think in the end it took me about 40 minutes before the initial ignition.Point to note is the ignition, I thought at first that it was broken as it seemed a bit flimsy and wasn't fitted but, once together I love the ignition and is a lot easier than lighting our 'supersur' which is manual click start. All in all it is a great fire, and heats a room quickly. We are also taken with the colour 'Red'. I would purchase this product again.
