this thing is mustard
out the box and ready to go. This saw is mustard, you can tell by the weight its built to last. Dont purchase any other saws. I love it, I might even get a room.

No frills, just quality where it matters
No stupid lasers, No sliding blades, but a good motor accurately spinning a decent blade. Table top extends a good amount though the fence and mitre slide are worse than useless, but nobody uses them anyway. Make your own sleds and this becomes an impressive tool. Highly recommended especially as the one I bought was listed as 'used' but was boxed and had never seen a length of wood in its life.

Very poor for a Makita product
Firstly think carefully before buying this saw. It is hardly worth the Makita badge. The fence is utter garbage and worthy of a sub £100 saw. The T tracks have lots of play in them so that using the mitre gauge accurately is impossible. The saw has lots of nice features, but is so let down by the inaccurate fence and T tracks that it is hard to recommend. Quality control is not great and there is batch variation so check yours carefully and reject if you are not happy. It might suit you if you are working on site and just need a saw to rough cut timber, but for anyone requiring an accurate cut then prepare to invest in some modifications to get this saw up to scratch. Having said that the modifications are not too complex and are satifying to carry out. There are lots of videos for this very model with ideas for fence and other modifications. Once sorted the saw is actually very good.

well well well high criticism from some. I love it I moved from a Bosch 10j every thing on the saw is superior to the Bosch blade height higher, mitre twice the size and aluminium this could be the reason for cut being out . blade garde is much better than the Bosch, I have found the fence accurate unto .7 mm as good as Bosch, bladed tilt and blade height adjustment are separate Bosch has a dial for both, extension is much larger and surface accurate, its so large I have set up a removable router table in the space. rear extension not on Bosch the foot print must be double as well. start up is so so scary once running it is quiet that is if you can say that about any a table saw. disappointed it didn't have a larger start button so I made my own 2 x 5 that inches to you yound folk. I think this market segment is a starter machine to some and criticism of the machine is inexperience. unless you are willing to pay £600 plus this is as good as it gets, you don't get a aluminium mitre even for thatfantastic David...........................

Would not recomend the mlt100
Bought the mlt100 for £300 from a local dealer, not amazon. But i could not recomend this saw or stand by while people consider it. When i first got the saw it seemed good but a few months down the line it showed it's true colours. The guide is un-accurate with a couple o mm play, the motor mounting has play. So with these two failures theres about 5mm of play. The saw ends up blocked with sawdust if not used with an extractor unit. It also has a plastic insert which the inevitable happened. A 2mm ripping fell between the blade and the insert and got forced out by the blade. Shattering the plastic insert. So i got a friend to make a stainless steel insert for me.So if your a tradesman pay the extra money and get a Bosch Gts 10 xc with the Gta 60 w stand. Twice the price. But you get what you pay for.

Just right as Goldilocks would say
Not too expensive and not too cheap, just about right for the enthusiastic woodworker who likes to make sawdust evenings and weekends. Dust extraction is pretty poor, I'd guess that at nmost 40% gets sucked up through the extraction port at the rear. If you fit it to a cabinet and add extraction below it's much improved. I initially bought the folding wheel base, but unless you intend to use this on site then its really just an unnecessary extravagance.Once set up properly it cuts extremely accurately, it is low maintenance and simple to operate and adjust, the adjustable mitre fence is just about adequate, I have made a cross cut sled which is more accurate and easier to use.All in all for the quality and price I would recommend this product highly.

wasn't too happy after the first hours
Well, wasn't too happy after the first hours, but lot of tweaking improved it a lot. The sliding left side is useless, way too flimsy and plastic linear guides!Worst is that after using it and making a mitre sledge I discovered that the actual saw/ motor guides inside had come loose. They were probably never tightened from factory, this basically ruined my sledge, and could eventually have led to a major disaster if the motor and blade had started to jump around inside the casing. After fixing this the saw now works like a charm and I'm pretty happy, but still wanna kick a certain Makita worker in his behind for not tightening all screws and bolts.
