First Solder Sucker that works exactly like you always wanted them to. Solder wick is...well...solder wick. You can't mess that
I have used a variety of solder sucking pumps and virtually gave up on them because they all sucked. I assumed this would suck because it is made out of plastic and had foam around it. I was wrong. The product is the perfect Solder Sucking pump, the foam makes the product fit in your hand nicely, and it actually works just as you expected. The Solder Wick works just like every other Solder Wick except the plastic holding the Solder Wick melts when the copper strands are heated enough and the copper gets hot. The nozzle never once melted when even being touched by the soldering iron. It also worked exactly the way you always hoped a solder pump would work. Being made out of plastic means it's light and the heat isn't dissipated into your hand either. The solder wick is above standard. I have never had a bad experience with solder wick. However, you cannot snap together multiple reels and the plastic encasing melts easily. The pros are that the copper thread is wound tighter than any other solder wick and it doesn't loosen instantly.Price not considered, I will probably buy these for as long as the company is in business. Then when you see it's literally cheaper than anything else I feel like I should just stock up on a lifetime supply now.

Great desoldering pump. Good price. Highly recommend! It does the job!
Excellent product. It was a pain in the butt to remove the excess solder on my pcb board. I was working on a headphone pcb board(tiny as anything). I was able to remove it by using the iron and attracting some bit by bit. But that was taking me forever(like half an hour since it was so small). This desoldering pump literally sucked the solder right up. Just heat the solder with the iron for like 5 seconds, then QUICKLY remove the iron and out the pump to it and push the button as fast as you can. It can take a few tries sometimes. But it's way better than having to use even wick. Its worth the price honestly. I think this is one of the best on amazon for the price, but granted,it's my first one.

A decent desoldering pump - questionable wick
This desoldering pump works surprisingly well and is easy to use. I've used cheaper ones that work once or twice then die or fall apart - this one seems pretty well made. Construction is solid plastic with a teflon tip and metal rod - it is one piece and does not open for cleaning, but the solder seems to fall right out after use. Sucks up a good blob of solder at a time and is easy to hold with a nicely padded foam ring. Buy this for the pump - the wick seems a little cheap and I don't think there's any flux in it - I had to add flux before it would wick any solder. I had an old spool of wick from Radio Shack that works much better and was hoping this would be the same type, but it doesn't work as well. Still it can be used if I add some flux to the solder I'm trying to remove. Overall a good value for a pump that is better than the really cheap ones - but obviously no match for a nice Hakko desoldering gun.

Works great!
I used the vacuum tool to desolder a couple of XLR microphone cables. I worked amazingly well. Just as described. I haven’t used the braided wicking material yet. I haven’t needed to since the vacuum tool works so well. Great value!

Be sure the product that is to be removed, is completely liquefied before trying to take out.
As being new to use of this type of tool, some form of instruction sheet would be useful. It does what it is suppose to do.

Works, but requires modification
Suction is decent, although a smaller spare tip might have been nice. Plastic tip doesn't melt, at least not at 360 degrees that my iron is set to.However, I can't really recommend the pump as it has a major design flaw. The photo shows the maximum to which it can be primed to, upon which it clicks quietly, awaiting activation. But if you were to continue to press it down the final quarter inch it will become irrevocably snagged and refuse to work, requiring dismantling. It's almost like they never even tested it - remember, you'll likely be doing all this with your non-dominant hand. After a couple of rounds of this, I took the trouble to hot-glue in a piece of plastic (half threaded top of a plastic bottle) to prevent over-priming the spring, and it works well enough, but I shouldn't have to this.

Simple. Easy to use. Cost effective.
For those of you familiar with the art of electronic soldering, you are very well aware of the problems improper desoldering may pose. Well, this solder wick and desoldering pump are a elegant solution to this often difficult to satisfactorily perform task. This device is sturdy enough for the hobbyist. I don't think it would survive very long in a commercial or industrial environment, but in my home shop, I bet it will last until I "lend" it to someone. Hint: never lend your tools or your books. This is a very cost effective solution to an important (and under recognized) component of soldering repair.
