New Old Stock
So, these days only Seagate, Toshiba, and WD make drives. So, you may have noticed that MDD isn't on that list. MDD buys up old stock that has not sold, rebrands it and sells it to consumers. I received seagate Exos drives with a new sticker. The drives are new, but have sat on a shell for a long time. The time in cold storage matters for an enterprise installing 50+ of them, so the manufacturers rotate stock. However, the difference in reliability is negligible for home users. You're accepting far more risk from shipment than from the drive failing due to sitting on a shelf. These are still drives with an MTBF of 2.5M hours. That is why MDD is still able to offer a full 5 year warranty. That being said, the shipping risk is significant. The drive will have been knocked around by the carrier. You will want to run a long SMART test before throwing important files on it. However, that is true of any new drive.

Works fine, pretty noisy for home use
Being an enterprise drive, it's great. The loud clicking noises won't matter in a server room. But, using this drive in a home environment, the clicking is too loud. It's very noticeable in a quiet room. I purchased an adapter that has rubber cushions for this that fits in the 5.25" slot, and that helped reduce the noise quite a bit.

Both drives I ordered came with dents like they were dropped
Both drives I ordered came with damages on the surface. I tried one of the drives and is super noisy. I would not trust my data with those drives. It was sold as new item but looks like they are refurbished

Work as expected
Ran comparable to my Seagate ezos. In ZFS mirror array full scrub. No issues detected on full pool. Very good start.

No issues
Placed in my Netapp DAS 4246 and has been running for a year with no issues.I slow format all new HD's before placing them into use.I bought the 14 & 18 TB Models.Although no issues, I am now buying WD Reds for the 5 year warranty

Can't beat the capacity for the price.
A bit noisy but worked well. Came with 5 years limited warranty which is more than any at this price range.

Recieved a dead drive
Drive not working in a pc or an external hdd dock. Should have checked it immediately to request support but bought it assuming going for a nas device soon
