Honest review, genuine purchase
Usually I have purchased Scruffs work trousers and shorts. My last pair of Scruffs trousers were not as well made as the one purchased over a year earlier. I decided to try another brand, I purchased Black Hammer trousers and was not overly impressed then a few weeks ago I purchased the Apache Whistler slim fit stretch shorts.I would not describe myself a slim nor rotund. I am 6ft with a 36inch waist. I ordered the 38" waist just to be on the safe side having never used this brand before. They fit very well, they are a little loose at the waist but I always wear a belt in my work shorts and trousers. I carry a lot of heavy tools in the pockets, this stresses the fastening button on the waist if you are not wearing a belt. For me for work I prefer to have the trouser/short waist slightly loose and tighten to hold up with a belt. The shorts are really comfortable, the material does feel quite stretchy. They are noticeably lighter than the Scruffs shorts, yet they do not feel cheap or flimsy. I really like the pocket number and layout, really important for what I do for work as well as carrying tools I need a separate pocket for my phone (which I keep in an fully armoured case). This is one of the major issues with the Black Hammer trousers I recently purchased. Why to the manufactures advertise a dedicated protective pocket for a mobile phone, when this dedicated phone pocket is not big enough to fit most smart phones. Do Scruffs, De-Walt, Black Hammer, Site, Lee Cooper and Dickies all believe that people who wear work cargo trousers or shorts all still use Nokia 3310 phones.Because they are stretchy I can squat down with confidence. Something I now worry about in Scruffs trousers and shorts after the saddle stitching gave up on my most recently purchased Scruffs trousers, as I squatted whilst working. As they were a little cheaper than Scruffs, when I next need work trousers I will be trying Apache.
