Brilliant product
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I was asked to restore a decrepit and broken rocking chair that had been left outdoors. The seat was split in half, many of the spindles had broken free and much of the woodwork was warped. After extensive repairs I was requested to decorate it in chalk paint. I searched many options of a finishing varnish and after reading favorable reviews chose this one. I wasn't disappointed. I was initially concerned by some reviews that claimed it either dissolved or removed chalk paint. I had no such experience and can't understand how that can occur or what those reviewers might have been doing wrong. I used as synthetic brush, loading it very lightly, spreading it very thinly and evenly, resulting in a smooth satisfying satin sheen. Although milky to begin with when applied, it's totally transparent when dry with no discolouration to the finish underneath. As for durability only time will tell, but reviews elsewhere seem optimistic. Another bonus was that the brush washed out easily and cleanly with just warm water and a dash of washing up liquid. Having discovered this product I will definitely continue using it on other projects. Admittedly it's not weatherproof for outdoor projects but eminently suitable for anything remaining indoors. I have no hesitation in awarding it five stars. As per my heading , a brilliant product.

Easy to apply, great finish and goes a long way'
This stuff is great. I made myself a fish tank stand and painted it matt black. The finish looked great but was marking up easily so i ordered some of this.I got a shock when i opened it as i wasn't expecting a water based varnish (it's milky in colour). Anyway. i poured some in a tin and got started. This stuff goes on very easily and a little goes a very long way. The finish was first class after one but i decided to do another coat as it was so quick to apply and went a long way.The finished fish tank stand now looks superb.Cleaning equipment/brush is a doddle - just run it under the tap.Overall i highly recommend this varnish.

Easy!
I used this product to give chalk paint a better finish and it works a treat. It’s on a book case and the finish is smooth and nice to touch. The only thing you have to watch is putting it over a stencil design - because chalk paint is water based, the varnish should be lightly stippled on top, if you brush it, the stencil will smudge. When the varnish is dry, apply a second coat and Bob’s your uncle! Use sparingly.

Polyvine Wax Finish Varnish Satin Finish 1L Clear
Very pleased with this varnish. We had our banisters and window ledges stripped in the hall/landing and i used this varnish on them. It has given a lovely sheen and durable finish. It wasn't smelly, although it is advised to ventilate the room. It is a bit cloudy when it is liquid, but clears when it dries. Didn't take long to dry. Hasn't darkened the wood much, but has made the wood beautiful.

Does not cover chalk paint it removes it
I read the reviews and ask a question about this product because I have just given my wardrobes two coats of a chalk paint it said it was okay to be used over the top of a chalk paint I have just used this product and it is just removed all the pain I am fuming it’s a good job it was just inside the wardrobe I have been able to rectify it this does not cover chalk paint...

Dead flat finish
I use lots of this on my chalk painted furniture as it leaves a light sheen, similar to finishing wax but with less elbow grease required

Easy to use and gives excellent professional hardwaring finish
Sanded down an old desk for my daughter to use to do homework. I chalk painted the lower half and kept the top natural and used this as a final coat. Looks fantastic as if a pro has done it.
