How nice knowing the raccoons and woodchucks won't be in the garden tonight!
If you're anything like me, it's easy to forget to turn the electric fence back on.My fence is that thin poly line with wire strands. This works with that. It has indicated when the fence is off, and when a ladder fell on the fence and shorted it out. Does _exactly_ what I bought it for.I love that it blinks ONLY WHEN THE FENCE IS OFF or shorted. Most all of the others blink when the fence is on. I don't want to look out my window and go, "Blinking red light, that means OK". Blinking red light means something is wrong (or "Stop" if you're driving). So, this implementation of blinking on a problem works for me.It works. Only one season's worth of testing so far, but I'm a happy purchaser. Expensive, yes, but so is the loss of a row of carrots and peas.I think it's worth it.

Does what it's supposed to do
It is a good little device that does the job. I've been using it for a couple of months now and it has alerted me of fence problems. Hoping it lasts as long as I say it does.

Easier to use than a voltage tester!!!!
Alas, ours was flashing in the box when received. This brand fence alert is a product of New Zealand, so was it on the entire distance??? Anyway, ordered Speedrite brand..received Patriot brand. But seems comparable! Put it right up on fence and it has already alerted us once in the four days since received. Very bright red flash really visible at dusk/night.

Poor design. Poor quality. Finicky to use.
There has *got* to be a better product like this in the market. I can't find it though. The build quality is not very good. The switch, in particular, is awful. The clamps as well. The clamp holds onto the fence just fine, but a simple design change would make it work better. Why? Because getting a solid connection for it to detect the charge coming though is problematic. Polywire? Forget about it. You will have to rig something up. Solid wire is best, but if there is even the slightest bend or flaw in that wire, the connection will not be good.Anyway. It works when it works, but I spend a great deal of time fiddling with the darn things (I have four) getting them to perform what should be a spectacularly simple service.Speedrite: make this thing not suck please.By the way: one of my four arrived with a dead battery. Why? Cuz the super cheap switch was bumped on in shipping or some such. What a waste of time and money these things are.

Alerts when electric fence is not wowrking.
Alert flashes red anytime the fence is NOT charged, and therefore not effective. Flash is bright and can be seen from over 50 yards away at night. During daylight, you must get closer to the alert to see the flashed warning. Alert is very useful, especially at night to detect problems with your electric fence.

effective
This is a good assurance product, so far through rain and high wind conditions it has worked effectively. This lets you know if the fence is grounded or broken. The light can be seen at all hours of the day if your fence is down

Great product
Initially I thought it was strange that it would flash when the fence wasn't working correctly; however, it was very well thought out. It's definitely noticeable if it's flashing so we know to look where it has a short. You can take it off the electric wire and carry it with you so you can see if you have corrected the short (by re-attaching it after you've moved something that was against the electric wire). Even though a little pricey I would definitely recommend it.

Keeps fence working
Turns on when cow fence is grounded. Can see flashes from half mile away. Great peace of mind after a storm to know if fence is working properly or not.
