Kings Of Metal MMXIV (Silver Edition)

Essential Manowar
Having listened to the original album many times I was really excited to get this re recording. The songs have a much fuller sound, Eric Adams still hits the high notes, and that "bonus" track Pleasure Slave isn't on it!Heart Of Steel, Hail and Kill, and The Blood Of The Kings are so great they warrant repeated volume increases. When you feel down and can't shake it, play this album and let the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.Package is great as it comes in a chunky cd case, with a disc of bonus tracks which are instrumentals of all the songs.

Disappointing take on some classic songs.
I am a huge Manowar fan and own almost everything they've ever put out over the years, that said this album was a disappointment to me. Kings Of Metal ( the original ) was an absolute classic, in my opinion they've made a mess of that with this release. The songs are obviously the same in spirit, but the 20+ years are showing, when I look for the original high notes and sustains in Eric's voice. Don't get me wrong Eric has one of the strongest voices in music, but the highs from 1988 aren't there in 2014. As for the music other than some tinkering with songs the most noticeable difference is Scott Columbus. Donnie does a good job of imitating the drumming, but the Scott Columbus signature sound is sorely missed. If this were new music from Manowar I would probably rate it higher, but it's not, it's considered a classic Manowar album. I feel that Kings Of Metal would have been better served with a state of the art re-master, and if the guys wanted to re-record a couple of tracks as a bonus, then God bless 'em.

Amazing!
This edition is an absolute blast! Outstanding! Speaking of 'outstanding', this album outdoes the original album plenty, and I must specifically address 'Blackadder's father' Brian Blessed telling the story of 'A Warrior's Prayer'! He is, well, blessed with a voice so powerful you can almost hear your ancestors rattle with excitement in their graves! The track has always been a favourite of mine, but I have always felt it could be told way better. Enter Brian Blessed, and the answer to MY 'Warrior's Prayer' is indeed a fact! A very much 'Thank You!' to the band and to Brian for the effort, it outdoes the original Prayer by lightyears upon lightyears!!!Other bands remaster their old albums, while Manowar simply re-record them over again, and that is so True Metal it hurts in a good way! People will undoubtly critize them for doing such, but they don't give a s***, and neither do I!Only sad thing is that scott Columbus wasn't around to do his drumming parts on this record (I'm sure he would've loved every minute of it!), but I can't imagine anyone other than Donnie Hamzik or Rhino taking his place behind the Drums Of Death. No need to say, Donnie beats the living s*** out of every cymbal, drum and stick, and I think for certain that he has done Scott both impressed and proud.By the way, Joey DeMaio has written a Dedication to Scott at the end of the 2nd inner sleeve. I dare you, Immortal, to read that Dedication without getting that feeling of having a giant potato trying to emerge past your throat...

Love the original, then you'll love this...
I didn't realise they had totally re-recorded this album. I thought it was just remastered. So I was gob smacked as to how good this sounded. Brilliant........as was said, class act having Brian Blessed reading the "Warriors Prayer". With people now lovign Game of Thrones and Vikings I'm hoping that put this album back up there as it's a testament to all that stuff.Buy it, superb album........

THE SECOND GREATEST MANOWAR AFTER "INTO GLORY RIDES" GETS RE RECORDED
Lets face it the original Kings of metal is nothing short of stunning,,,,,Ross the Boss' last and such a truly truly wonderful work of not only the great ManoWaR but metal period . But seriously ? how longer can a delusional fan base of MANOWARRIORS put up with these re-recordings of classic stuff before they realise theyre being dupted and before they realise not only the cash in (selling out tickets on the fan's nostalgia etc etc. ) and not only that..... but ok... the re recording of theyre debut was bareable but seriously.... compared to the original this version is lame....let alone the idea of redoing already classic work on any creative level is just as equally lame.....I genuinley feel that either Joey and co are totally deluded (cos this lameness aint TRUE METAL!!!!) or theyre desperate and have exhausted the ManoWaR dictionary (you know Black wind, hail , fire steel , Odin, kill , throne , demon , true , posers , leather etc..) you get the picture, at last count it was forty five pages with definitions... Or maybe they are cynical? ) ManoWar are truly one of the greatest Heavy metal bands to have ever walked the face of the earth but come on all you MANOWARRIORS as well the band.... just admit it..... repeating the words in front of the great god ODIN and hold your wet swords(like a young girl in her prime) into the wind and chant as one LAME! LAME! LAME! LAME! LAME! LAME! And may the True spirit of True metal once again return and encapsulate the chosen....PS.. some people out there are saying that ManoWar are too true to be true metal ....NOW.... seriously i am having non of this talk .....damn infidels......
